The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

So, trying to only buy one knife this year when Forrest and I go to BLADE. Nothing else...This is going to be tough.

Ummmm, yeah...... You been talkin to Samson?

Let us know how that goes for ya brother!

Haha. LIL STABBY *gangsta face*. Nah, it's just that, 98% of the time I have my CRKs and a slipjoint on me. I look at lots of knives, buy some less expensive ones, rarely carry new additions, and just stick to what I like best all the time. So having said that, I just can't justify continuing to buy knives when I've landed on the knives I like most (for this time in my life anyway). That and...I've got Rolex fever bad, and need to save up for a whiiile. So...No knives until one special purchase at BLADE for me.

I talk to Samson, yeah, so? LOL

Hey, I'd be the last one to judge you buddy! I've just seen this said a time or two. I've heard it a time or two out of my own mouth.... It's tough to stick to. Then again, sometimes it's easy for me to stick to. Sometimes I'll just use what I've got for a few years, if you can believe it. If you've reached that "level", congrats! It's a long road to get there.

Haha man, I carried the same Benchmade 910 for like 8 years! I can do it! If for no other reason...the watch! The watch! My God...the watch is the only reason :D

Challenge accepted!

My god the watch! I like it... Especially when it's a Roley... Dude - first class chronograph there!

So, what's it gonna be? Submariner?

Thats a possibility, but a smaller one compared to what I'm more or less set on. GMT Master II BLNR. The GMT (Date preferred) is my top pick but I'm on the fence on whether I might also consider an Omega Speedmaster series or Seamaster PO.

Any of the above are huuuuge differences in terms of "luxury" and quality to the Citizen I wear now. No complaints, for a sub $1k high mid-range watch it is great, as are many others I've had in the past, but it's time I just hustle up and move on up.

My first "nice" knife was the 909 stryker2(not counting my leek or 110). It was cool, but I just hated the tanto on it. Every time I looked at it it would remind me of an otf because of the blades extremely thin profile compared to the handle. That and it had insane blade play. That was the start of the fever. I think I carried it for 2 weeks until I just went off the deep end. I was buying something every other week for a couple months until I finally worked my way up to the sebenza. It's slowed down a lot since then. That seb has probably saved me more money in the long run. I eventually sent the 909 in to switch it to an uncoated drop point, and I like it so much more now. It's my designated "beat around I don't give a..." knife.
Thank god I don't have any other expensive hobbies. Between knives and cd's I pretty much stay broke. I guess it's better than a collection of empty dope bags and beer cans though.
Antdog, how's the vaping going?

Thanks for asking! It's going great! I quit on Christmas Eve and still no cravings for cigarettes! Here's a pic of my savior:

And hey - yes, knives are a LOT better than empty dope bags and beer cans. They cut stuff much better, and there's the added bonus of good health!

There's one thing I've learned when dealing with big money purchases Harris - don't settle. If you're looking at a few different models, all separated by a few hundred bucks, get exactly what you want. At that level, what's a few extra bucks? Nada. Spit in the ocean. Go for EXACTLY what you want.

That's right, man. I don't want that SERE that bad. :)

Good advice and I agree wholeheartedly. I don't penny pinch when I'm after something. I'll end up with all the watches I listed at some point but, the GMT Master II will be the hardest to save for so I will get it first. Will probably take me a decade to be able to justify buying the others, year to year.

This should be easy though, I bought 5 Sebenzas last year, and never kept more than 3 in my collection at the same time and I'm CRAZY about those knives! Congrats on quitting by the way, proud of you homie! I will switching to vape too.

I just now saw this bud. (Tapatalk issues are messing with me pretty bad)

Anyway, I'm glad you feel that way! I'm not in a big hurry to give away one of my favorites...

Thanks! Im so proud to be a quitter, in this instance. I'm already feeling a lot better than I was. Trust me - it makes a huge difference.

If you get a vape, try out a liquid called #32. It's made by a company called "Beard Vape Co.". You will never, ever go back to cigarettes. I can almost guarantee it.

Did you get your Roley yet? Can't wait to see it!

Oh, and just for some knife content, I'm carrying an old fave today on the belt. The usual suspects are still in my pockets:

Will do, thanks for the heads up. Nah man, no Rolex yet...Will have to save for it all year long to be able to buy it by Christmas. It's going to be a long haul saving for this piece. I also just dropped a few thousand on going back to school so that set me back pretty far lol. I'm lucky I work from home, and have a huge gap between classes so going back to school will actually not affect my ability to work.

Good news is that I think I can hold off till BLADE to buy this years one knife. I'm very happy with my collection of blades that get carried/used.

What are you going to school for?

International Business. I already work in the field; I need the degree to advance and branch out further.

I wonder if I can carry a small Sebenza on campus...Doubt I'd use it much so it probably won't matter.

Blank stare

I'm not seeing the problem here

:D:D

I stick to a sak when I'm at school. I'm sure I could get away with more, but heaven forbid one of the cops gives me grief and confiscates it. To me it's just not worth it. I'm only there fore a few hours a day, and I don't believe I've used a knife on campus yet. I did see one of my professors had a little vic on his key ring last semester. That put me at ease about carrying my sak.
