The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

Well, these kabar knives are biting late... Recently got a BK9 (Made my kabar) and lightly slices a finger putting it in its sheath a week ago... Last night, paracord wrapping a kabar piggyback, slices my left pointer real good, 4 stitches this morning to keep it together... Gotta watch those kabars... That 1095 is sharp stuff from them
 
Just arrived. My kids make fun of me for how quickly I jump up off the couch when I hear the clanking of the mailbox lol.

AntDog, I think I'm going to pass on the vape. I've been cig-free 5 days now, cold turkey. Definitely still going smoke cigars, but I'm done with cigarettes.
 
Freakin AWESOME! Congrats brother! Please stick with it! I like you around here. The occasional cigar is nowhere near as bad for you as smoking cigarettes.

I'm proud of ya man! It takes an iron will, for sure.

Weather's still ugly down south so we're all staying nice and cozy inside. My wife is doing her nails, my kid is watching movies and I'm chilling with them browsing BF and flicking my Blur open until they get sick of it!

Thanks man, I appreciate it! Yeah I'm sick to death of smelling like cigarettes, having stank break, coughing, but more than anything...feeling weak and vulnerable. I'm an alpha dork, man. Nothing sucks like dependency (looking at you Green Lantern.)

Well I'm stoked! I finally ordered an alox pioneer, and I found it in black too. Black wasn't my first color choice, but I didn't feel like shelling out for the higher price tags on the second hand market. I just really didn't want silver. Nothing against the color, I think it looks nice, but I wanted something that would develop more noticeable pocket wear.

Nice. I've got a few different alox SAKs. Love em. I carry one most days along with a modern folder. To answer your question a page ago, I go to Kennesaw State.
 
fetzer85- That Strider is sweet. Congrats. Isn't it funny when we are expecting a knife delivery? I am aware of every sound outside the house, just waiting for the sound of that USPS truck.
I have been "tempted" by the Striders lately as well as the Medford's.
 
I'm sending my PD#1 3/4 Grind Strider SnG off to a good friend of mine tomorrow for one of his edges. Our edges are about as sharp as each others but my lockside bevel looks funny from getting romped on and losing a good bit of cerakote so, he's going to make it pretty again on his Wicked Edge at about 34 degrees inclusive.
 
Doing pretty great at the moment!

Been experimenting with course edges on s30v and I'm loving the results. A little while ago I bought a second (all black) PM2 because......well......I wanted to. And cuz my digi cam satin version was getting a little boring:D

Anyway,..... I put a awesome looking course edge on it, and it's been working really well. Doesn't treetop or anything like that, but the edge is toothy as hell and bites like a mofo:thumbup:

I find that it's much easier for me to have a nice flat, even bevel when I stick got the lower grits. Once I start polishing, my crappy angle inconsistency starts messing with the edges and convexing them or giving them weird micros bevels, and they don't cut well enough to fix the mistakes
 
Doing well, I got 2 knives today, so that's something. 1 was the alox pioneer, and I love it. The other, well I'm still trying to decide how I feel. I got a 710 in a trade for my hogue ex01. I'm starting to lean towards selling off all but maybe 5 of my knives and putting the money towards a new seb or something else of that caliber. I'm beginning to feel like I'm hoarding knives that haven't been used in months. I'd rather have a handful of great knives that I love than a box full of ones I don't carry.
