The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

You know what pisses me off a little? Well, that's probably too harsh. More like "wrenches at the deepest part of my soul and makes me question my understanding of the world" :D

When people hold knives like they're aliens and can't figure out how to hold or use them correctly.

I've seen so many people turned off to Spydercos becuase they don't understand how their supposed to hold them..... Like HOW is this even possible?? I guess as a knife guy I forget that not everyone is born knowing intuitively how they should hold a Spyderco..... But still! They're designed to be the most naturally ergonomic knives around! Yet more than half of the people I show them to fail to even pick up on the purpose of the thumb ramp:grumpy:

Bevy of squirrels outside my home today. I was able to keep the surge from overtaking me and my nut larder.

I peeled an apple with my Old Delica today. Then I ate it using the blade like a fork. My Wife was worried I'd cut myself because I just sharpened it on my New Turnbox.

Any of you ever have an experience like that with your Delica?

ROFLMAO. I get the are you kidding me... Again... Look all the time.

In defense of the spouses it does seem silly whipping out the camera phone in the middle of the frozen turkey aisle to document the new knife cutting out a butterball coupon at BJ's... :D
Yeah our wives could have it a lot worse. Instead of being alcoholics and beating them we're just weird nerds. I think they're better off with us! :D

Nerds? Pshhhhh. No way ;)

So how's that sage 2 treating ya?
Wonderfully, thanks. It's only the 3rd one I've owned...:) I'm such an indecisive mofo it's not even funny. I never know what I like for sure. It's safe for now. My CTS-204P PM2 has been a pocket hog lately. This is my 4th PM2 and I think I'm finally liking it the way I've been wanting to. Really the compression lock was just rubbing me the wrong way but at this point it's either grown on me or I've given up because the ergos and blade steel are just so darn good.

But the compression lock is the best part! Sheesh:)

Seriously though, I love my PM2. It's one of the few knives I'll never part with, even if I were strapped for cash. I don't carry it very often, but I just can't bring myself to get rid of it. Its hard to explain.

I think subconsciously I'm always looking for knives with imperfections just so that I can keep buying more knives. The pm2 is perfect in almost every way, but it is seemingly for that reason that I cant carry it.

My addiction is too strong for me to settle on one knife:D

It's the same for the 707 I have. I love that knife. In theory, it could be my one and only Edc knife, but again, I'm held back for some reason. In fact most of the knives I have now could easily become my one and only, but my desire for variety keeps me from becoming a "one knife for life" type of guy, even though the notion has a certain romanticism about it

I've been a one knife guy for years at a time several times. It's cool. It gives you a chance to really get to know your knife, bond with it, and use the hell out of it. I've got 6 knives like that. You can really see and feel the history in them.

With a brand new PM2 that hardly gets used or carried, not so much....

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

I'm not a one knife guy anymore! Haven't been for years and years.

I know what you mean. I used to carry only one knife everyday, and I did that for a couple years.

Then I got a tenacious, and my journey began......:p

I think the longest I EDC'd the same knife was a RAT 1 and that was about 6 months. Then I became more active here and it's been a terribly fun downhill ride ever since.

I try very hard to carry just one knife for a while but end up just rotating between the three in my drawer which comprise of me mini commander and the larger version and the SNG. The others just get stashed away for a rainy day which doesn't happen as often as it should here in Southern California. Sorry for the early comment, it seems to be looking a little better though.

I just got a Super Blue Ladybug after wanting to try sb and wanting a Ladybug for a while. It's awesome. Super thin stock with a nice ffg. Very smooth. Came ultra sharp. The ladybug is just a marvel of ergonomics. I'm thinking about doing my first actual "testing" of steel by comparing sb and 1095 in as controlled a manner as possible (my GEC 22 has a remarkably similar stock thickness, edge thickness, and edge shape).

Also I have my first custom scale coming with my Chokwe sometime next week. The maker sent a picture of it not totally finished and it just blew my mind, i can't wait to see it in person.

Very cool! Congrats on the new knife. Make sure to get back to us with the results if you decide to do the testing. I've always wondered how super blue stacked up

No matter how much ZT tries to call them simply "blade stops," I cannot help but try to use them as thumb studs.

It's a little bit harder to deploy the blade than normal but I generally succeed.

So I went to a gun shop yesterday. Went to get pellets for my air rifle but ended up looking at the knives. The salesman was trying to push Al Mars on me - I must say they are very nice but quite pricey. I was more interested in the Spydies they had. I fondled an Endura 4, I've never had one and I was quite tempted. Do you know that they cost the equivalent of $100 here in South Africa? Shocking. I reckon it's still good value though! I like the bigger blade... could be a good weekend knife.

On my 0566, they work well but I never use them because I much prefer the flipper

What's up Knife Life anyone know where I can find a 0620 Cf in stock? preferably a BF paid dealer so no one gets their wrist slapped. Don't care about price long as it's not outrageous and it's NIB

I got a brand new Spyderco Techno in my mail box, and a Bark River Micro somewhere along the way. Haven't had a knife week this good in awhile....I'm excited to see which kicks the Seb out of my pocket, if any.

Ahhh, the Knife Life.

Just pulled the trigger on a Kershaw Crown. First kershaw ever. On the bay for $7 couldnt pass. Next week im gonna find a way to justify another knife with my gf and get a Rat 1 in coyote brown. I may be on the other spectrum as many on here but the feeling of a new knife is always the same. Gotta love the knife life

I just got myself an Umnumzaan, I used to have a small sebenza but I sold it because it was too small and didn't do much for me. Then I saw this knife and just knew I wanted it.

As far as being a one knife guy, I switch it up sometimes, but I always go back to my benchmade 940 or 705, I don't think I will ever replace them.

I have a PM2 and for some reason I think it is just a bit bulky. Great ergos and all but the blade to handle ratio turns me off. What are your guys' reasons for loving them so much?
