The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

I entitle this crappy photo composition "the ones that didn't get away"

That's a Busse Basic 9. That = one BIG cervidae. In other words - nice rack!

So my 20 month old started playing with my spyderco sharpmaker fine rods while i was sharpening my victorinox kitchen knives and he starts bashing them together and before i could grab them from him he broke one in half:( i super glued it back together but i don't know how long it will stay... So if anyone has an extra laying around you could always send it to me:)

EXACT same thing happened to me... I was running a blade down the coarser rods when I heard my son (about a year and a half old) giggling... Then I heard something going "tink tink tink", then I heard a shattering sound. One of the fine rods destroyed. Back then ONE fine rod was half the price of a whole new Sharpmaker setup..... Good luck finding a replacement, and when you get it, put it up high.

The good news is (if the rods don't get broken) these things are built to last! My son is 15 now and my Sharpmaker has sharpened hundreds of knives. It's paid for itself several times over with it's ease of use, portability, and the ability to tackle almost any edge.

Krissig12 - you are going to get a what? A BENZA?! no man, you can't use cute abbreviations in front of the noobs! Didn't you see the announcement? We are not supposed to say sebbie, slippy, wharnie etc. anymore - it detracts from the manliness of the forum :p

If this carries on I'm going to post some batoning pictures..

Today I carried my ZT 0801BLK

I love this thing, but it's a little on the large side for EDC. I usually prefer to carry the 0566, except for when I'm around the house or Im going somewhere a bulky folder would be more appropriate.

The 0566 is almost perfect. I'm waiting on the 0562cf to arrive, but I have my doubts it will keep the 0566 out of my pocket for too long. I'm in the same boat of wanting to try a sebenza just to get it over with. The only trouble I'm having, is deciding if it's worth selling a few knives I really like just to try it, and possibly be let down.

Well, it's up to you, but I had the same problem and chose to sell some knives. Fortunately, they weren't my all time favorites and weren't getting much use, but it still hurt to sell them.

Sometimes my wife sees the pictures I take and becomes seriously concerned with my state of mind. I have no idea why... :o

Here's one for ya.

Ok so I have been reading this thread lately and I felt I should join in.

Couple of notes, I had a small plain sebenza 21 for a little while and I absolutely thought it was a fantastic knife. My only gripe is that for the same price (approximately) I could get a full titanium slab (like a ZT with spring removed and custom titanium sclae) that I liked better. There is something to be said about how awesome a sebenza is, but I like my knives to flick open fast.

Also, on the same note, I am looking for a full titanium version of a Hinderer designed knife, I have been messing around with the baby Kershaw cryo and I feel like I would really like a bigger one of that style but with higher quality build, like an 0566 or 0562 with full titanium.

ROFLMAO. I get the are you kidding me... Again... Look all the time.

In defense of the spouses it does seem silly whipping out the camera phone in the middle of the frozen turkey aisle to document the new knife cutting out a butterball coupon at BJ's... :D

My wife also. She doesn't get the whole "knife thing". It's the same with my coffee addiction. Coffee is coffee to her.
