The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

A thread about anything and everything wont yield thorough results. That's why we have forums/subforums/threads. All titled too so you have a decent idea of what you are getting yourself into. No need to go into the repeats and redundancies.

Anything and everything posted in only one thread will turn to a cluster.... you know.

Every thread and post has merit. How much merit is for us to decide on our own.

Not hatin', just sayin'. Now carry on and allons-y!

It's called "the knife life" for a reason. It's not about anything and everything per se.... It's more about a stream of consciousness discussion area where anything trivial that pops into someone's head during the day can be posted. Questions, minor concerns or complaints, observations, new knives, stories, new views on knives in general, etc

Example: "I dropped my dragonfly today. Thank goodness it's yellow! I really like how Spyderco gives people this option!"

OR

"PM 2 did a lot of work today, cutting up cardboard and whatnot, and the edge seems to be fine:thumbup: "

OR

"Just played around with the edge pro and got a beautiful edge on my ZT! What do you think? Pics!!!"

Were any of them worth a new thread? No, but they fit perfectly here:)

By all means, if you think your topic, issue, question, etc merits a separate thread, then go ahead and make one! But if it doesn't, then just post it here. You'll still get good feedback

Got it. Kind of like the Snark thread but knife oriented.

Excuse my analysis and lets get lost in the fun.

So let's get this thing rolling again.

I'm going to get a benza once I have sufficient funds available. Question is which graphics should I get???

What's that? You can't answer the question because it's all about personal preferences? Nahhhhh.... This isn't the place for that kind of response. That's why I posted my inquiry HERE, rather than a new thread in the CRK forum! :D

In the end, Ill most likely cheap out and get the plain Jane small 21 for $350, but I still kinda like the idea of getting one with graphics or inlays. Not unique ones obviously, but the computer-made repeatable ones. So which are your guys favorites? Pics would be great as well.
As of right now, I like the "riddled" graphics, and a few others. But I'm REALLY lusting over the one with cf inlays.... That's probably my grail

I was about to make a thread to post a pic of my daughter holding my PM2 but thought it might be better in here!

#knifelife

Great pic!

And it's great to see some people are finally comming around to using this thread:thumbup:

I lol'd when I saw the hashtag tho:D

Haha, nice:thumbup:

Still no opinions on my sebenza question?

Yes indeed, I agree! How does a man cut a proper rare steak? With a Busse Battle Mistress, that's how!

Krissig - go with the micarta inserts. You'll thank me.....

Or don't, and wonder what could have been, with just a few more thousand pennies....

Meh.... The micarta isn't my favorite.
It just doesn't seem to be on par with the classiest of the benza. At least not as much as the cf is

Sebenzas? Yeah, I like to talk about 'em.
I generally like wood inlays...not fond of graphics...had a few.
Large Sebbie 21 micarta tanto...

For carry, I just prefer plain slabs and spider-trails are fine.

l
In the small, the calf leather is very nice; in the large (pictured) I didn't like it; sold it pretty quickly.

small box elder...this wood is one of my faves...

small snakewood on the bottom..

They are enjoyable knives...

So go with the carbon fiber? At that price point, you should be willing to spare a few extra bills to get EXACTLY what you want.... Just think about it - would you rather spend big money to get the entry level model of the expensive knife you want, or kick in just a little more dough (comparatively) and get exactly the one you've been lusting over? The choice is clear to me. Is it to you?

I still dig the micarta personally.... Especially if you're actually gonna *gasp* use it!

Oh I'll be using it all right. That's part of the reason I'll probably just go with the plain version. The beautiful cf would encourage me not to use it as hard as I other wise would :p

Eh, we'll see. Im still a little ways away from getting one, so I have some time to make up my mind.

Thanks for the advice guys, and great pics Sonnydaze!

But then I look at this picture and my knees weaken again......:D

Btw, it was grabbed from another thread in general. The quality is bad because of the trip through photobucket, so go to the source if you want the full experience:thumbup:

Then go for it! You know you want to mang.... Fiber is good for you.

And don't worry about using it. Carbon fiber is tough stuff. Plus, it's just gonna be your hand and your pocket touching it? *shrug*
