The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

Nice Taco! I've been eyeballing those lately as my car is falling to pieces. Do I fix the trusty 'ole beater, or pick up something in better shape? I'd love an SR5 w/ 3 pedals, but I don't like to spend money if I don't have to. My current drive to work is about 3 miles and PLPD is cheap, lol.

Waiting for Amazon gift card to arrive before I buy anything else. Lol.

Being a poor middleclass guy that i am, It'll probably be a long time if ever that I own a "Hinderer", however I am stoked to say last night I did order a Kershaw "Thermite" (Hinderer).

Thanks all.
And krissig, I'd say you have just about the quintessential high end production collection now. So when are you ordering your first custom folder?

Thanks all.

Yep, the trifecta of high end productions has been completed:)

As for customs, ehhhh.....honestly I'm pretty sure this is as high as I'll go on the totem pole. I don't feel like customs would offer me anything I couldn't get from the knives I already have, or the pimp jobs I can have done on them. And since both aesthetics and performance are covered where I am right now, I see no reason to go any deeper into the rabbit hole.

Krissig, just saw that your furbaby is back up and about! Congrats on that, and your new Hinderer! Things are lookin' up!

You're only lying to yourself, bro. There's always always another knife on the horizon. Pretty soon you'll just trip head first into the rabbit hole.

Finally retired the crappy old Gerber work knife in mystery metal, for a schrade in 9cr18mov; 10x's the knife the Gerber was for less $... Funny how much you can pay extra for a name (bear Grylls)
Also, while I typically don't do serrated edges very often, I grabbed a(nother) Blur with a combo blade, because every now and again you just need teeth... My new work combo...

Thanks Dog!

And to top it all off, my cat's up and healthy again. We're still keeping an eye on him, but he seems to be completely back to normal. Thanks for all the good vibes guys, I really want to believe he pulled through because he had a good bunch of blade bros wishing him well:)

Oh and one more thing. The deadline for committing to a school is tomorrow, so I'm picking tonight and sending the deposit. Ugh, this is going to be a hard decision....

Happy to hear that your cat is doing well.

What to do. What to do.
So I can't make up my mind on what I want to do. I've wanted to get a new fixed blade for a while now. I want something in the 3.25 blade range. I have narrowed it down to 2, the bark river ultra light bushcrafter and a JK knives Tobys knife.
The Ultralight, I can order this direct and have waaaaaay more handle options. Basically the best thing it has going for it is the fact that I can have it within a week of ordering it. Oh and this knife comes with 3v which I've wanted to try for a while.
Toby's knife, the handle appeals to me slightly more with its finger gaurd and palm swell. This would be customized to my size specifications(although I would probably just stay with that of the bark river, 3.25 blade and 7.4 overall). I would much prefer to support small business, pluss this guy just seems like he's really cool to deal with. The overall design appeals to me a little more. It would be my first custom.
The biggest con of this knife is the wait list. I have yet to confirm just how long though. This is also some what of a pro though, since it would enable be to stash little bits away at a time instead of throwing the whole $200 at once.
Ultimately I think my impatience will win out and I'll go with the BRKT. I just figured I would open this up to possibly get some insight from you like minded folk.
I'll try to get some comparison pics for you guys.
