THE "Knives on NCIS" Thread

Hi all. I've been a lurker on this thread for a while -- joined mostly for the discussion, here. ;)

Thought I'd post this screencap of the ZTs from the "Flesh and Blood" episode...

Man, I'd love to have one of those. :p

On last nights episode, "Obsession" Gibbs had this same 0302.

Evening, I was just watching a new episode of NCIS and Gibbs used a small knife and the blade was stripped like a zebra. Need help experts on what type of knife it was, gift for husband. Thanks, perhaps I can afford this one compared to the expensive Bare Grilles knife!

Welcome to the forum! The zebra striped knife in last night's episode was a ZT0302. You can find them for sale here. 2bkc and kershawguy are good, dependable dealers. kershawguy also offers factory blems at a greatly reduced price. There is usually a minor appearance flaw, and they do not come with the lifetime factory warranty. Kershaw will, however, send replacement parts to you if needed. The only part they won't ship is the blade.

Nice choice and a lucky husband!

As with most "which one" threads the correct answer is "BOTH!" with a little Kate and Jenny on the side.

I just saw the last "ZT" episode. and this may be a bit off topic, but I was struck at how closely (I won't say rips off) a plot element tracks one of John D. McDonald's Travis McGee books -- The Green Ripper. Maybe they'll suffer the pale gray of guilt.

I mean the whole KGB bowling-ball-like sphere with bad stuff/Markoff reference could have been lifted verbatim from the book. To any Trav McGee fan, it's like a scarlet ruse, a quick red fox, a nightmare in pink, a fearful yellow eye... I digress....

Not that I'm complaining -- I love both -- I only wish they'd have given a nod to ol' Trav. But then again, I have a baby squawking in the background, so I may have missed something.

And I don't see Probie as Meyer if Tony is Trav... though Ziva does have cinnamon skin and Tony does seem to walking through the lonely silver rain.

I got more if encouraged.

The zebra striped knife in last night's episode was a ZT0302.

How does the ZT0302 pattern differ from the ZT0301 so as to be able to tell the difference between the two models or were the brown scales show earlier on in the scene?

The knife in Tony's hand appears to have brown scales but a black blade.

Can someone kindly clear up my confusion please?

the difference is that the 0301 has ranger green G10 and the 0302 has coyote brown G10. as to the brown scale with the black blade, that could just be something that somebody swapped, or a special edition.

Some time back, I remember reading the folks at ZT had a request from a Hollywood prop man, who is into knives, buying a ZT0301 and a ZT0302 with a black blade. It was said these two knives appeared in an earlier N.C.I.S

Gibbs and Tony were eating steaks after Tony blew his vacation money on his dad played by Robert Wagner.

My guess, the prop man switched blades playing around with his toys and the ZT0302 was used in this show.

Common Sense...The Rarest Of All Senses

With the SEASON PREMIER Tomorrow Night, I thought I would resurrect this thread as I am sure even more knives will be featured this season.

Looking forward to another Great Season with Lots of Knife Pics !!!

nyefmaker, how could you resurrect this thread without showing your seb? :D i'm going to have my recorder on tonight in case i miss something while watching.

I loved that scene with the pair of Zt's.
It showed so perfectly how much Gibbs has become a mentor and father figure for Tony.

Also, it made me want a Zt even though they are FAR outside my meens.

I haven't read any of the books you refer to, so i don't know about any additional similarities, but I'd just like to point out that poison pellets like that, are a real method of assassination that have actually been used. It's not really surprising that they show up in multiple works of fiction.
