Rook 6
The Rook 6 pays homage to the great fighting knives of the past. We add our twist to this timeless dagger design with a blend of modern manufacturing techniques and modern materials. The Rook is 10.75" overall with a 6" blade made from 3/16" thick 204P stainless steel (HRC 59-60). The knife...www.defiant7.com

Usually if the blade doesn’t drop when closing it’s because the pivot is tighter than necessary. May just need to adjust the pivot.Well, got my Myna yesterday afternoon. Love the design and double diamond milling, detent feels great, and the knife feels great in hand. Can't get the blade centered but it's not rubbing either, just favors the show side a bit. I have some Skiffs on the way so maybe that will help with that. There is a tiny bit of lock stick but some sharpie on the tang makes that minimal and it feels like it will go away with break in and use. The other thing I'm not crazy about is that it feels like it gets hung up on the stop pin in the full open position. When I unlock the knife, the blade stays at full open even with some decent shaking. Pushing the blade closed feels like overcoming a detent even when the lockbar is pushed far enough that it is totally clear of the blade. It's not the detent jumping back onto the ricasso, it's definitely some friction with the stop pin coming out of it's home in the slot on the back of the blade. I put a little oil on the stop pin and it feels like it has broken in slightly just from some fidgeting so I'm hoping it continues to go away until it doesn't exist anymore. If it doesn't I may blue it up, see if I can figure out exactly where it is hanging up, and lightly polish that area. Anyone else experience this with the Myna?

Interesting, I’ve never heard of a blade tang sticking to the lockbar. Maybe it just needs to be broken in.It has nothing to do with pivot tightness, it is hanging up on the stop pin. It will still do it with the pivot screw totally removed. It feels a lot like a double detent knife but there is no second detent at the open position and that extra friction is coming from the stop pin/blade tang interface. It's like lock stick, but between the stop pin and the back of the blade.

It seems to be improving but only time will tell. I'm probably going to try some sharpie or pencil on the stop pin and see if it reduces the friction. I was just curious if anyone else has experienced something similar. I haven't had a ton of knives where the stop pin "fits" into a slot like the Myna.
I don't think this type of video illustrates much, but it shows the "hang up" at full open. Like I said it feels like overcoming a detent or lock stick situation to overcome it when pushing on the spine. Doesn't take a ton of force but the blade does not immediately move freely when the lock is released.
I'm getting an error that the requested page cannot be found.
Trying to fix that. I've had trouble embedding media lately. How about now?
Well, it worked for me once, and now it's gone again - at least I got to see it. lol
Hmmm...I see what you're describing. Mine don't have that behavior at all. If you open the lock and manually work the blade on and off the pin, do you feel a definite friction?
Yea, I’ve only ever had that issue from a tight pivot. The diamond paste sounds like a good idea. I would think it would eventually fix itself while breaking in.I don't think this type of video illustrates much, but it shows the "hang up" at full open.
