The Les George Knives Thread

I'll join Smythes_Knives Smythes_Knives for San Mai Sunday. 🤘

Crafted from Chad Nichols’ XHP core San Mai Damascus, this blade features one of Les’s most unique grinds on a M3 blade so robust it could moonlight as tank armor.

It was built for the 2018 CCKS and finished with a G10 backspacer, which had to be used because the quarter inch blade stock made traditional standoffs impossible.

I once snagged a certina swiss army watch from one of those grey market websites. I bought it because it was so cheap and had crystal glass. I was blown away at how well made it was. It was so nice I bought another one in a different color. I now regret selling both of them to buy more knives. 😏

looks like y'all had good day there. rained here all day and still raining. flash floods and all.

no pumpkin jackolaterns here. deer eat them, dont last a night.
Darn I’m sure the rain will be heading my way soon. That sounds like heaven to me! I would take the woods and deer all day long over the pumpkins lol

Happy Morph Monday! 👽

I'll kick off our final Lestober stretch with a custom Harpy with some of the deepest Morph milling I’ve ever seen. The depth and flow almost give it a scaled, organic look under the light, which feels particularly fitting given the Xenomorph roots of the pattern. Chad Nichols Boomerang Damascus blade paired with a heavily tumbled frame. Interestingly, this Harpy runs on PB washers, which is pretty unusual since Les typically uses bearings on his flippers. Sold at the 2013 TKI as a lottery piece and now sporting an old school USN Steel Flame clip to honor the person who passed it along to me.

I’m especially in love with this one. Morph milling is what first drew me to Les’s work, and while I’d already tracked down an early evolution of the Harpy, it took a long time to find a bona fide example. To not only land one, but to find a piece like this, felt truly special.

It’s Mammoth Monday for me on day 27!

This old school FM-1 was made around 2010 and is decked out w/ mammoth molar scales, superconductor bolsters, and CPM154 core low layer damascus.

The clip is the only George Cross .45 Steel Flame clip in existence. Derrick made it for Les in 2012 and Les carried it for many years before it was gifted to me at BladeShow ‘24.

It’s hard to put into words just how much this knife and clip mean to me. They serve as a constant reminder of how fortunate we are to have such amazing folks in our small corner of the knife world.
