*BAM*

This blade was a wreck, but the rescue turned out ok with only a couple visible scars.

What you want for that knife daiz?

Ive been admiring it since before the handles

Because of the wet summer, the pecan trees are overloaded, and all three trees in my yard have been self-pruning from the weight.
Have had 4 big limbs come down in a week. I need an M-18 to chop them up. Stat!

Ask and ye shall....

Do chestnut trees count?

IMG_20130902_163611_128 (1024x768).jpg

We had nine inches of rain in July and five inches in August. Have a bodacious chestnut crop. Already have lost five big limbs when they broke and fell off the tree due to weight. I have been dragging them off with a tractor, but the brush pile is getting too big.

I need an M-18 too . . . :devilish::rolleyes:

Dry as a bone here. I just bought another sprinkler for the yard.

I bet we do too. We still own the house my wife's grandparents lived in. Big chestnut tree on the side of the property.

I ate my three measly doves tonight. Guess I can't complain. I shot more than anybody in that field, and the birds were delicious.

If Todd is right, I will have one tomorrow. Then, it's freakin' game-on as far as world domination.

Ralph, you comin' to the Gathering?

Just wanted to share what I've been up to lately. I remember some chat about archery here a little while ago so I thought some of you may appreciate this.

First of, I haven't hunted with a bow in many years since I sold my compound about 5 or 6 years ago. Before that I had compound bows my whole life(Well since I was about 10 I think). When I started to get the itch for archery again, I decided I wanted to go traditional. That's right, I got myself a custom long bow! After an almost 5 month wait, It came in about a week ago and I couldn't be happier.

Well, I decided to make my own target. I have a 3D boar I shoot at but I wanted something different. I am all about DIY projects. I also collect stuff that may be useful one day. lol

Yea, so I was given a free shed a few months ago and have been trying to figure out what to do with it. First I was gonna make a chicken coop out of it but it finally hit me, all weather archery target!!

So this thing has been sitting on my trailer ever since I brought it home and this weekend I finally thought I could get it off my self. I did......sort of...haha

Almost lost it down the hill when it flipped over to far. No fear, I attached an eye bolt and wrenched it back upright.
Very scary moment for me. Luckily it hit a stump and stopped.

Next I went to my neighbors and got some carpet that he just took out to redo his floors.
This is about half of what I used.

Next I cut 5 foot by 17 inch pieces. About 130 - 140 of them. I did run out and am going to add more later.

Then I started stacking.

I did put 4 eye bolts in the bottom of the floor and make a wooden top piece to compress the carpet down using 4 ratchet straps.

This is the completed target shed.

Really stops the arrows good and arrow removal is super easy. Put some hooks to hang bows on while retrieving arrows.

The shooting area is 5 foot wide and a little over 4 foot tall. Going to get more carpet eventually and add a foot or two more on top.

Here is my new bow.

Its a left handed Wind Warrior by White Wolf Bows. Shoots like a dream!!

Very cool, Dex. Archery hunting is not something I've done, but in the not-to-distant future, it's something I want to do.

In my quest to get fit (22 pounds lost so far), I actually thought about a Tough Mudder. The other day, however, I took a gander.
I'm not so sure that electrical shocks and icewater enemas are in my future. I think I'll just put a half-marathon in my long sights and go that route.
Doing my first 5K in October. Want to get a few of those under my belt, and then bump it up to 10K in the spring.

That target shed is the bomb Dex. Beats the hell out of a box full of rags.

Those doves do look tasty Biscuit, you didn't shoot a wet one did you?

No wet doves. :D
It barely sprinkled for a half hour down where I hunted.
There are some more leased fields and WMA fields around that are open for dove hunting this month.
Think I'm going to hit one or more of those. I do love to eat dove. Wish I could go hunt with Ethan down in South America one of these years.

I still have 335 calories left on my daily intake.
If I cover my wife in whipped cream and just go crazy, I wonder if that would put me over the top.

Thanks, Stv, but this one is not for sale. It's something of a second, and it's now my carving knife.

Those look like bacon-wrapped stuffed peppers to me. How did you sling 'em into the air? Did you have to clean the shot out of 'em?

-Daizee

I didn't find any shot. I marinate my birds, then wrap them in jalapeno and bacon. When the bacon is good and crispy all the way around, the doves are done.

wow, that sounds great.

The local Smallfart got some the Fieldline packs in and I'm pretty impressed with them. Lots of features for less that 40 bucks. Think I'll have to pick one up for a get home bag.

On a side note, the King makes this sooo easy.

Kay said to use light whipped cream and you can go for better coverage.

Damn, 758 posts in 10 days. Not bad fellow snarkers.

To pick up an M-18 . . . sure! :D

Then again . . . I'd drive down just to get a good look at one. Sure would like to meet some of you rascals . . .

Would have to be a day trip Saturday. Have commitments Friday afternoon and Saturday night. But . . . it's only about a two hour drive so that should work.

Gonna' work toward doing just that!

Nice going Dex, great way to make use of the carpet... never seen that before, seeing stuff like this makes me miss the house I just sold in the country...

In my quest to get fit (22 pounds lost so far)

I need some of that encouragement right there.... way to go man, I bet you feel great....
