Today's shirk from home project:
Finished forging these last weekend. Made handles this morning.
All 3 pieces came from a single RR spike. The rest was scraps in the shop.

My steel comes from a local forge called Black Oak forge iirc.

The flint found on a hike. Not much rocks where I live so i bring some when on hollidays.

Had a friend decided to make some charcloth filled an Altoids tin full of cotton squares . As soon as it quits smoking he rakes it out of the fire . Before I could stop him picks it up with gloves of course an opens it. As soon as the air hit it , it ignited

After Mrs. O'leary's Cow was trying to make a fire with cow tools, any other cows get steaked out for BBQs.

Trying to teach myself forge welding, so I made a chain out of a piece of broken garage door spring. When the heat is right, it worked great.
Took a bit to figure out why I wasn't getting consistent results - froze my bottle.
About half the links in this chain have solid welds.

Chain is loosely patterned off the mastermyr tool find.

Today I got bored and wanted to remember how to do a decorative chain pattern, so I disassembled a 3' chunk of aluminum service cable, coiled it on a 1/2" of piece of pipe, and made this.



It's a lot prettier and lighter.

It's here I am liking it. Cleaned it . I'm not feeling well so I went down and sat in the garage. Looks out to the back yard. I have miniature silhouette targets The chicken is the size of a quarter At 45-50 foot 4 shots sent the little metal animals into the yard (iron sights) . I put another pellet in it and was sitting looking at my phone. Looked up to see a squirrel at the bird feeder. 5th shot made meat. Hatsan model 65 . 22 caliber around 800 fps with lead pellets. My second Hatsan

Dorado in SoCal may have lockjaw, but in Baja, they are biting just fine.

The BK5 for size comparison, and my cutting board is 2' x 4'.
