The official Challenge knife thread!Makers please confirm your entry

pins. and. needles.

Yeah, I have no idea how the scoring came out on all the other categories. I suspect they may have a tough time; I didn't see any knives with any major problems in fit & finish, general design, construction, etc. Great work, all of you!

Personally, I think that about 5 years ago, someone dropped a sliver of tungsten steel in the jungle... and by chance, it was picked up by a growing bamboo sprout... and by chance, that bamboo found it's way into the challenge and by chance, my knife happened to be in the right place at the right time...... What incredible LUCK!

It had to be that.:D
You need to buy a lottery ticket. You have to be the luckiest man in the world.

I know nothing about knife making or steel or forging or tempering, but the knives I saw pictured in this thread looked incredible. The fit and finish was beautiful on them - given their various styles/shapes/etc. I don't think any of the Blademakers here should feel even the slightest bit ashamed of their blade - regardless of how well it performed in the test - they were all beautiful (even Rick's :p )

I am really thankful for all the expense (time and material costs) that all you Blademakers put into this contest. While I'm also looking forward to the pics/results, I understand it all takes time to present and put together.

Right on! There were 16 knives that made it to the gathering, and a bunch of testers. They have to score all the knives in a whole pile of categories, then combine all those scores and tally 'em up... that's a lot of number-crunching. Plus, they have other stuff going on this weekend and probably half of them are pretty hungover this morning :D We need to be patient.

These folks are all volunteers, doing this for us on their own time. Thanks BeckerHeads, and especially Ethan Becker for hosting! :)

We had a blast out there, it was very wet though. lotsa folks were swimming in there tents! I was pleased and honored to have witnessed so many awesome knives! Hell of a bunch of good fellas out there as well!

Nice to meet you btw Mr. Terrio. And I have no idea what your talking about with the hangovers!!;)

I really wish I could have been in attendance. Sounds like a good time and some nice blades.

i've been following this thread for a while.
just wanted to say i love a LOT of these blades, and have subscribed to this thread b/c it's a pretty good list/set of pics of where my next several blades purchases are likely to come from.
excellent work, all of you!

results should be interesting....

Just made it home, and I'm gonna dry out, shower up, and get some sleep, as, I have to work tonight. I will begin the process tomorrow morning of getting it all sorted out.

Wednesday at the earliest for results. Where would you like me to put it?

Moose

I feel sorry for the failed knives. However it tells me this was a good hard test so the winners will have reason to be proud and everyone can use the info to make better knives.

id like to see some one post up some more pics if possible, i know there was a crowd there :D

Failures isn't a accurate term here Thorny. Like James said. There where 16 knives all by makers that had the balls to send a knife that they worked hard on to in some cases a complete stranger basically so they could learn more about there product. It was great to see all of the different knives and different thought processes and hear of different tecniques, and I too am just as excited as all of you guys to hear the results. Since I had a knife in the challenge they wouldn't let me participate (as it should be) but I was able to handle them and talk to a few other makers. Its great to finally handle blades by makers you've admired here on the forums for some time. Really learned a lot.
