Moose text me back and wants to keep it at 20 knives. If the others don't confirm by Sunday you two are in.

Two dropped out so Jdm and Buckmaster, you guys are in if you want

Thanks for the heads-up last week, Chris. As mentioned, I'm over-booked and won't be able to make a special challenge knife. However if I get my orders cleared there should be a couple at the gathering in the right category. Thanks for the 'alternate' tag.

Well, bad news. My blade cracked in the quench so I've got to start over. Really a shame as I had a good bit of time invested into the blade. Don't leave your spine at 36 grit folks! :foot:

Fortunately I have been thinking about the blade and I think I have some ideas to make it even better.

Carry on!

Now to me this is what this is all about, learning from mistakes and rolling with the punches! Looking forward to seeing it!

I made a smaller version of my entry for testing and found it quite a fun little blade. I am pleased with the lines and geometry so I made the actual entry sized one today. In the pic both the smaller and larger blade are side by side with the larger one just finishing up tempering and ready to receive a full height convex. I will have it ready for testing next week.

I've got a question... I'm sure the specs are just 'rough estimates' with blade size but wanted to clarify, are we talking tip to handle or cutting edge??

Although it's not an official entry, this is one blade I hope will be on-premise during the testing.
Here's a sneaky sneak-peek (second temper happening right now):

This is from the official posting just below the conformation

The knife will need to be a bushcraft/camp knife, 4.5" to 5.5" blade geared towards slicing. It will be used for food prep, bushcraft tasks, etc. everything else is open to the maker.

shane I understand that but am curious if its from tip to handle or the actual cutting edge... you can have a 5" blade with a 4" CE..

daizee that looks purdy !!:)

I am not saying this in a sarcastic manner but just conversation but I understand the word blade to mean the cutting edge and knife to mean from tang to tip.
