The official Challenge knife thread!Makers please confirm your entry

shane I understand that but am curious if its from tip to handle or the actual cutting edge... you can have a 5" blade with a 4" CE..

daizee that looks purdy !!:)

You can also have a 4" blade with a 5" cutting edge:)

I would guess it to mean 5.5" from tip to guard/scales.

For my knife I'm thinking something forged and wide....

I agree, don't confuse blade length with cutting edge length.

Very different things.

I measure my blades from the foremost part of the handle/guard/bolster, in a straight line to the tip of the blade. That's my story, and AKTI's story, and KnifeRight's story, and most law-enforcement agencies' story, and I'm sticking to it.

I can make a kris, a buffalo skinner, a deeply recurved blade, and a double-edged dagger that have the exact same blade length, but vastly different lengths of cutting edge. So what? None of those would fit within the parameters of this challenge.

This notion of measuring the "cutting edge" means nothing to me. Sure, you can make a 4" blade that's 3 inches wide and as curved as a '32 Ford's front fender... bring it on. We're talking about general-purpose slicing knives here - that's been clearly defined. 4.5 - 5.5 inches of blade.

Sorry I never confirmed guys.. am I still allowed in the chalenge? (buckmasters recent post reminded me I never confirmed)

Because of timing etc. I'm not sure if my alternate entry will become a REAL entry, but in any case, should images be posted here of completed challenge knives as in other threads, or is there a hush order in effect until they arrive on-premise?

I feel the fire under me... I better get a move on... I always procrastinate it drives me nuts, maybe I like the rush ?? dunno..

I have my knife done but have not started on the sheath. My work load has increased unexpectedly at the fire station and on my second job for duck dynasty so I am wondering if I will get the sheath done.

Mine has been taking longer then I would like since the first version cracked in the quench. The good news is that it's replacement is ready to be heat treated, I just have to get the rest of my batch that is going with it to Peter's ready. The new one is CPM 154.

Mine is ground and will be finished this week. I actually made one identical last month but sold it! I am doing something different so it could be a total failure, we will see! Yeah, I think we should post up pics in this thread. Might want to wait until we get a little closer to the date but if you want to throw it out there feel free.

The guantlet. It has been thrown. :D

Timing will tell if my alternate entry participates or not.
I have barely two weeks 'til my own deadlines, so here we go.
