The Official Lanyard Thread

Here's my new lionSTEEL SR1-G with a green 550 cord tail featuring two crown and diamond knots around a fat Ti bead I bought off the Big River Site.

I tossed a little lanyard on this Sebenza 25 today to try it out. I wish the 25/Inkosi had a separate lanyard hole as othe CRKs do. There isn't much clearance at all for the 550 cord between the pillar and blade edge so I had to tie the cord around the pillar tightly. That makes it pretty stiff on the knife so it feels a bit intrusive. Maybe I'll try something with a gutted cord later.

Yeah, it does make you have to tie them kinda tight on those models. But I do like minimalist clean look without the extra hole.

photoman12001 photoman12001 and halden.doerge halden.doerge , you got me looking through my CRKs and inspecting my various tie-ups. You know I like my lanyards long and floppy so they hang slack and downward when they're in-pocket. They also seem less obtrusive to me in hand when the lanyard can be easily swung out of the way or held back with a pinkie, rather than sticking rigidly out the back in the standard CRK mode.

Anyway, tying off to the Inkosi post (or the identical one on my 25) doesn't seem to me to be a problem with a slack starting loop. I've also done the Norvox Mod to my StarTac, adding the extra screws and standoff in place of the lanyard pin and tied off a loose starting loop around that. This pic is deceptive as you can't really see between the slabs that the belly is way closer than the tip.

While the blades may sometimes lightly touch the cords, you can see in the pics below that there's no evidence of interference or damage to the cord on my 25 PlainJane, and, while the loop on the StarTac is damn close to the blade, it shows just a tiny cut which surely isn't an issue in its current state.

The third knife here is my Inkosi with its abbreviated leather tail which is by it's very nature is rather slack and unobtrusive. This one came to me like this, otherwise BNIB from a BF seller. The leather seems just a bit lighter and more flexible than the thongs I've bought from the local shop and used in different configurations on a couple other knives.

The 801's a great platform, but I honestly haven't been that taken with the newly released ZT0801Ti model. It looks pretty damn nice in your pics, though, TheFactor TheFactor ! I think ZT and their dealers should hire you to do their photos, man. :p

I got my 801 already pimped here on the Exchange for the price of a stock model new. All I had to do was add a lanyard.

Its funny but I wasn't that fond of the new 0801" looks wise ' either when I had the BRZ Sprint run . Then I sold it and they've really grown on me so picked up this 0801ti . Love the looks now and there outstanding flippers .
I agree the dealers/manufactures should hire me to take pictures J/K LOL but I sure enjoy taking pictures though :) EDIT: I wasn't going to say anything but since you mentioned it lol . With respect to the dealer im not going to mention which one. But I did have one contact me asking if I could send them one of my pictures to put on there website and I was honored to do so . Made me feel pretty good and im very flattered that they wanted it.
Back on track Your 0801 is looking good my friend

After carrying the Sebenza 25 for a bit the lanyard has loosened some around the pillar. I can see the outer layer of the cord starting to fray slightly where the blade edge contacts it. I'll keep it as-is for now and see what happens.
