The Official Lanyard Thread

A few I was messing with today. I particularly like the Benchmade Crooked River. I know many folks don't like the orange on it but I love that color and decided to double down on it. The bead for the Giant Mouse was stolen from one of my Chris Reeve lanyards. I don't really care for lanyards on the Chris Reeves.

The lanyard hole on the GM1 sure is a thing of beauty.

Posting from Vermont on our last night of a week up here in our beautiful woods. I've only got my phone to work with up here and with very little signal it's a chore to get pics edited and uploaded.

I picked up this gorgeous big Ti bead from BF member Inspiribomb and tied up a new lanyard on my Turtle with 550 King Tut.

Edit:. This pic shows off the bead better.

Those look great together!

I sharpened my large Starbenza last night with a Sharpmaker and Knivesplus strop then added a lanyard to it. When I was tightening the lanyard my hand slid down the handle a bit. I guess I was gripping tight enough to force some meat into contacting the closed blade. It slices well :D

The phone pics of my Turtle with its new bead and lanyard that I shot and posted from VT were kinda weak. It's hard to get pics formatted right, edited, and uploaded with only the phone and weak cell signal from our place up there. I shot a bunch of knife pics with my iPad just before we left and got them on my laptop at home this morning. Here's a close-up of the new bead that shows both the fine detail of the TI work and the color of that King Tut paracord much better.

I got this bronze bead along with the Ti version above and back at Post #160 and decided to put it on my XM-18 Dragon as it looks really good with the brass hardware. The cord is 550 "black & tan" but it sure looks like black and silver to me. o_O

I tied it up a few different ways and settled on a pair of False Turk's Heads AKA Diamond Knots.

photoman12001 photoman12001 , I have bought several pricier beads in the $25-50 range for some of my "better" or more special knives, but try to balance those out with the nicer $5-15 ones from the big river site and the $2 hardware store finds. I used bonus points for my 3 Sisters Hinderer bead and found a Shiro Radiator on the Exchange at half price. If I really wanted to save money, though, I probably wouldn't have 80 knives.

I did just order a Zoe Crist Damascus for my lionSTEEL TiSpine...

Chazzy, I want to tie up a bead just like this. About how much cord is that?

Here's my sumer swimming knife with its retention lanyard (which has saved it numerous times already), note the aftermarket deep carry clip to aid in not loosing it, the scale was drilled and tapped for that.

I carry it RFP but I don't wear normal swim trunks with the built-in underwear, instead I use gym shorts and under armour style (spandex skin tight boxer shorts). The knife clips in my RFP and the little clip goes on the waistband of the shorts.

d.r.h. d.r.h. reached out to me when he saw "WTB lionSTEEL TiSpine" in my sig line. Not only did he give me a great deal on this beautiful knife, but he very kindly took the time to tie up a lanyard with a nice silver embossed ring before sending it off. I felt a bit guilty replacing his generous gift, but I wanted a special bead to go with this special knife and ordered the Zoe Crist Damascus bead you see below. It's a bit more polished than I'd expected, but has a lot of detail in a very small object and sets off nicely against the more matte Ti and blade. I partially gutted the grey 550 cord and tied up a pair of crown and diamond knots.

Here are two beads from the lamp parts drawer at the hardware store. The top one is a threaded, knurled connector--the bottom is also a threaded connector with two reducers giving each end an extra rib. I'm practicing a new-to-me knot--the Elongated Crown & Diamond. The black 550 cord is un-gutted. The trick with this knot seems to be cinching it up evenly without getting it over-tightened.
