The Official Lanyard Thread

...I was wondering what was the deal with alla beads @ BHQ...

...youse guys...to Hapo a "lanyard" is a long cord that ties me and knife together...

...not losing my Para2...

...it is tied to a belt loop on a 4' section of paracord...red para cord FWIW...

...no beads...I could learn some better knots...

...are lanyards tools...???... .!. :D .!.

H Hapo a while back I use to make some longer lanyards, used a small bead as a cinch to snug up around my wrist to prevent the lanyard from slipping off and possibly dropping the knife, worked pretty well but in the long run I felt the got in the way.

So the first knot was used to aid in drawing the knife out and the longer loop to act as a retainer;

Now I do them tighter/closer to the end of the knife and have dropped the longer lanyard unless someone specifically requests it.

Never really thought of posting these bad boys. The Zaan was ungutted snake knot and the result was an uniform square like knot. Done the tail with TEC ti bead with a couple of ranger diamond knots. The Anthem was a somewhat standard snake knot with some diamond knot here and there.

I'll have had my Wilson Combat/Fox Extreme Lite Carry in cocobolo for 5 years this coming March and until recently had oddly never added a lanyard to it. A couple weeks back I remedied that by tying a solo wide diamond in 550 Vibrations sans bead as a simple pull.

Yesterday's mail call brought another WC/ELC, this one the Elite Titanium Framelock, one I'd wanted for a while and jumped on when it popped up on sale for 40% off. I really like these two mid-sized knives as their handle shapes afford a full four finger grip which locks in with their dropped pommels and a perfectly placed raised, jimped thumb ramp. I matched the fob on the first knife with another wide diamond, this one in Moonstruck to blend with the bright blue of the geared backspacer.

I wonder, how hard is to knot a diamond or a wide diamond knot on leather stands?

i had those coming next week and id like to add them to a leather strand to match my AB IMamba.

Depending on how tight you try to make them, it should work, just don't pull too hard!

I didn’t. I just used precut leather lacing from the local hobby/craft store. It tends to get more pliable as you work it. I’ve done barrel knots (hangman’s noose) with it before, and they’ve turned out fine. A little more finicky than paracord due to having to deal with a rough side and a smooth side, but definitely doable.

Oh okay, maybe my problem here is my leather strand is too thick. Maybe i need a small gauge to be more workable.
