....I'v been keeping a working list of who's interested, and we'll contact everyone.

That's cool!
My forum-time has been spotty and I have been sweating whether I would catch the official sign-up thread.

Just in case I was not clear in my first post - I am not simpy "interested," I want in for certain - 100%.:thumbup:

Thanks, Brian.

I'm curious about the design. What gave you the idea to raise the spine of the blade above the plane of the handle? I can see how your thumb could rest on the curve up to the spine for certain tasks but could someone tell us more about the thoughts that went into the design? Very interesting. I can't say that I've noticed a design like that before.

PB, it was my idea -- sometimes, when skinning larger game, it's nice to have that little bit of extra purchase to push on the blade as you slice along under the hide and pull on the skin with the other hand to separate it from the fascia, especially when things are getting gooey, and you have the small handle of a necker. Of course, that little bit of purchase can work for many other tasks as well. What you see is how Dan executed my idea, which was a tad different than what was in my mind, but I really liked the way he interpreted it.

Ok - I'm getting ready to get going on these.

(For those watching this and my forum....this will have very little impact on my current orders) ;)

Here are some answers to questions so far:

The blade is 2.93" to the front of the handle with 2.9" of sharpen-able edge. This way it is a legal-carry for most states.

The blade is 0.75" tall.

The thickness is going to be oversize 1/8"....meaning it will come in at around 0.140" thick or so....I'll be having these surface ground to that thickness (more or less).

I'm ok with a W&SS logo etched on the flipside...and am willing to cover the cost of the stencil.

Maybe have a design contest for the logo? ;)

Let me know what other questions you guys have.

Dan

Awesome Dan!! Thanks man!!

I vote for the design to be the patch with the crossed axe and knife and BFWS in the corners. Ill see if I have a pic.

Gentlemen, I will have to clear any logo concepts that may be trademarks of Bladeforums.com with Spark, okay? Please stay tuned, and let's not get ahead of ourselves on the logo yet. I just don't want everyone to get too excited then disappointed if we can't do it, that's all. I don't really foresee a problem, but there are channels we have to go through first.

Either way, awesome project. It would be sweet to see a logo, but it doesnt change me wanting one either way.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. Never would have thought of it myself. Makes sense though.

My pleasure, PB!

It's in combo with having the looped cut a little deeper into the handle, on the lower plane just inside the built-in guard/choil (which actually is what creates the guard), so that your thumb can hold firm against the spine, and your index finger stays solidly on the handle (and neither slides onto the the blade).

This can also work in reverse, with the thumb and finger juxtaposed.. I'm not sure how well I am articulating this tonight, so feel free to ask for clarification.

This looks awesome, I'm a huge fan of all of DK's line, and jumped on the Bushmaster list, I'm down for one of these as well. I'll keep checking this page and Dan's home forum.

Take care,

G
