The Official ZT0562 Thread!! (FIRST LOOK)

Note that you can see that somewhere along the line they corrected how the scales were being cut. In my first example (black hardware) you can see the scale covers the underside gimping on the stainless liner. In the second example (satin polished hardware) you can see that the scale in the same area is cut higher so as to not cover the gimping.

It doesn't really bug me one way or the other as I consider the gimping more aesthetic than helpful for grip/traction. But I'd imagine all it would take is a call to ZT for a replacement scale cut correctly if you have one of the early ones that wasn't cut correctly.

The CF scale does cover the jimping but I don't think I care.

i belive the scale is meant to cover the jimping as if you look at the jimping on the lock side it is only milled part way though to about the same depth as the liner is thick .
I am just thinking out loud here so I could be wrong

^This.

In the above image, the top knife appears correct, the lower knife is a scale screw-up, doesn't match the contours of the liner nor the pattern of the Ti side. Having the jimping and liner exposed like that provides more discomfort than it does traction.

So my G10 version finally arrived. First thing I noticed, was how much I preferred the G10 texture to the CF scale. I remember a few pages back, someone mentioned swapping the scales on the two. Since my 0770CF has an Elmax blade, I thought I'd do the switch so they match. Very pleased with the results! Almost like it was meant to be ;)

I agree 100%. Thats what I was thinking. The bottom one (IMO) looks pretty bad....

Was this from some mom and pop shop? I was actually going through the list of ZT dealers trying to get lucky on an in-stock 562cf

It was from a smaller online mom and pop. Great service, the guy replied email at 11:50 at night after they closed to a question I had. I'll email you the site.

I can't PM or email you. If you want the site email me at mike12_nguyen@yahoo.com and I'll tell you the site. He has both 0562s in stock last I checked.

After handling this beauty for a few hours now I have to agree with you guys. The scale seems right to follow the contour of the liner, and looking straight at the scale side it looks more aesthetic with the jumping covered. ;)

.

I know of a site that has 4 CFs in stock, so if you're looking for one let me know and I'll shoot you an email with the info to help you out. I'm currently awaiting a prepaid preorder of the 562CF so I have to just be patient and hope mine arrives soon... But I know some of you guys are hoping to get lucky and find one in stock, which is why I'm sharing whatever info I get.

I actually like the scale on the early ones more :( It matches the lock side....

I was thinking the same thing ^. I have an OCD thing about symmetry, so the later version would make me a bit crazy (but not enough to ditch the knife, lol!). I am just fine with my early version. :-)

I don't believe it has a rolling detent, more likely a soft sleeve the detent ball is pressed into because the lockbar insert is hardened and couldn't accept the ball being pressed in. The ball didn't seem to roll when I disassembled my knife.

Also if it rolled that would be something somewhat revolutionary and worthy of mentioning in product literature which it isn't.

It's the same on all of the ZT's with the hardened steel insert, I'm pretty sure you're right and it's nothing special. No need for anyone to get condescending towards us about something that is functionally identical to every other detent.

Agreed.

Lol I know it would bug the hell out of me because it looks like an amateur made the scale and they called it "good enough"

Got my 0562 in today. This is one smooth knife. Only complaint I have is whoever sharpened it didnt do that great of a job. The edge is slightly recurved at the end by the flipper.
