I think I need to take a trip to Kings Canyon after seeing all these pictures. And while I'm there, everybody else should go to the Beartooths so I can have it all to myself :P

Looking at Mt Spencer and Mt Huxley from Evolution Lake, Kings Canyon NP:

Holy crap, Doug. Good thing you didn't go out.

Looks like God himself is going to come down and slap someone.

Yea...it is still pouring. I had packed my CamelBak and was set to do a review on it today. got film and everything. Walked outside and heard thunder boom...and then it started just dumping rain...Oh well...maybe tomorrow then. Hopefully the rain will give me some good pics of the creek where I like to hike. It's been really dry.

I cannot even begin to match these scenery pics! So, I will give you all a look at my favorite new bushcrafting blade....

and the nice thin blade.......

It is a Tom Krein Woodcarving knife........It is .090 thin A-2 with Purpleheart wood handles. Probably the most comfy knife I own and the sharpest..........thoughts?

Very nice looking knife. Have been thinking about a wharncliffe fixed blade for a while, will probably get one eventually. Coming from Tom Krein that thing must cut like a laser. Not a fan of purpleheart handles, but they look pretty good as far as it goes. I'd have probably gone with osage orange.

This guy was sitting next to my front door this morning. It looked like he was looking in my front window :)

It's a Maverick kit knife from knifekits.com. I used reclaimed black oak for the handle. Through a contact, I was able to get my hands on some samples of reclaimed sunken wood from Ontario lakes. The black oak is unstained, incredibly dense, a joy to work with, and was apparently cut over 200 years ago.

Thanks for the comment,

All the best,

- Mike

Very Nice knife.....I would have guessed some Swamp Rat knife stripped with new handles......

A few pics from around Taiwan

My bow is a bear grizzly recurve of late 60's vintage, I use carbon and aluminum arrows(guess thats not to primitive :D).
It has a pull of about 45-50lbs.
Some shots I took today.

A knife bow shot, the knife is a cold steel kudu which is a great knife for the cash, I wear around the yard.
Its german krupp steel is alot like swiss army knife steel, very easy to whip a razor edge on it.
