Back to my normal stuff. Here are the views looking north and south from Muir Pass, Kings Canyon NP. The view south is from a little down the trail from the pass. It's all above treeline, so all you see is rock, grass, blue lakes, and a few remaining snowfields (not much snow, it was mid August in a low snowfall year).

North, toward Lake McDermand and Wanda Lake

South, toward Helen Lake

just thought i'd throw this up. its a picture of the sign at the start of the lynn canyon headwaters trail.

there should be signs like this on every major trail in bc but i've only run into these on a few of them.

thanks, i especially like the part where it says i should be carrying a knife :D

yup! I like it when i go hiking, walk past the sign and some unprepared "hiker" looks at me, my gear and my monster bowie chopper strapped to my pack or leg and they gasp.

:D

There's a little creek that runs by my house that eventually leads to a small waterfall. Since we had a good snowfall, followed by rain, I thought it would be a good time to see some real water volume coming over the falls. I usually walk with my dog and don't take a camera, but he's still got a little limp from a mysterious injury a week or two ago, so I apologetically left him behind.

This creek is dry about half of the time, with a few perennial pools. It was a little livlier today.

I couldn't find my swamp boots, so I was wearing a retired pair of steel-toes from work. They were NOT waterproof. Neither were my pants, and I ended up sitting down in the snow several times. (Half of them voluntarily)
