I've really enjoyed reading this thread. Thanks to all those who have taken the time and effort to provide us with all the great photos. It helps keep the "cabin fever" at bay when the weather keeps me in. I thought I'd contribute a few shots of last year's outing to the Clarion River.

I got a nice puukko blade from my gf as a birthday present... it's hand forged by one of the best puukko smiths in Finland, Markku Vilppola.

I dont know if I did this fine blade justice, but last weekend I made a handle for the blade... here's a couple of pics of the finished puukko:

The blade is 3.5" long, and its forged from "silver steel" (c1,2 cr 0,7% v 0,1%). The handle is little over 4" long, made from curly birch, and its treated with linseed oil.

Great pictures TedV! The Scottish Highlands are on my list of places to go when I get lots of spare time and money. Beautiful, rugged country!
