The Old Rugged Victorinox Cross..... Pioneer content, grails and such.... Red Gold...

SAK Guy,

Never seen a Solo SAK before... Is that a new thing or are they just hard to find? I bet that's amazingly SLIM.

I snagged an old cross electrician in silver alox on the auction site! The description said that it doesn't have much snap left to it, but from the looks of things I'm willing to bet it'll be nicely revived after a good cleaning. She looked pretty gunked up. I should be getting it in the mail on Thursday, so we shall see!

All of Sac Guys photos should come with a warning label, unless you are prepared to spend some money on some alox saks! Love his photography!
I had never warmed up to alox because all I owned was silver, and for some reason I just prefer the way the colored alox wears. After looking at some of his photos about 4 months ago, I bought a new black pioneer because they could still be had new for around $30.....but I preferred the red still so 2 months ago I went ahead and overpaid for a red pioneer. I've been carrying mine everyday and using it a lot in addition to my lockback.

Thank you jec, very kind of you to say that! :)

Gracias mi amigo! SOLOs' are a beautiful example of pure simplicity! Can't wait till all yours come in!

Ain't gonna' happen...the brain surgeons on the Dark Continent won't ship to the US, even though their web site says they ship overseas. I wasted a call talking to some customer dis-service person who stated the US, Canada, and Israel are on their poop list, but will ship to any country in the Middle East, North Korea, Russia, Eastern bloc nations, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Somolia, Afghanistan, etc.

Well, that's just crazy!!!!

There goes my hopes! The quest for the green alox continues! I see why my email was not replied to now.

The fact of the matter is that Victorinox is manufacturing these alox Solo's, Bantams, 93mm alox 2 bladed models, etc, in all the colors, but for some reason, the USA is being left out of the loop...I want to know why.:grumpy:

I realized I use the Farmer far more often than the Leatherman these days, so the Leatherman is assigned to the center console of my truck... Farmer in the pouch!

They are an older thing. It's very very slim but retains that big old spearpoint!

You can still find them on the bay or in colors overseas.

Thanks SAK Guy :)

I do sort of like a can-opener and bottle opener though... Can't seem to let those go! But I sure like the idea of a slim beauty like that.

BUT... Thanks to you (and checking out that link) I now have a Pioneer on the way! This will be my second SAK (I've had a few in years past, but they were all lost in action). I gifted a Pioneer to my Dad a month ago for his 75th Birthday :)

I agree and Primble has the same effect on me - fantastic photography!

Sounds you need to find a middleman in a country that they will ship to.

Another slim one. The Pioneer Pruner. Discontinued in '09.

This one recently arrived in the mail from my cousin. I've gifted him knives for 20 years and he has given me several nice SAKs lately. I was thrilled as my knife fund has been flat for some time. :(

Thanks SAK Guy :)

Great news and glad I could help!!!

Arizonaranchman,

I have a Leatherman pouch just like yours that I've considered using for knives, but I worry about the pouch's inside rivets for the belt loop scratching up the knife. Based on your experience, is that a valid concern? Thanks!
