The Puukko

I got a new one (to me) in today. A custom Woods Knife Puukko by Harri Merimaa. Birch burl with bronze, a birch bark spacer, and a wenge end cap.

Both nice puukko. I like the hook handle design; makes it easier to get knife out of sheath.

Have any of you Puukko aficionados experienced Kellam's Puukko? I've been looking at a Wild Finn Puukko KPR4 for it's blade length (3.75"). Would appreciate any advice, suggestions or comments.
Thanks, -James

Don't bother with Kellam. They sell knives made by somebody else at an inflated price. In this case, its an Ahti Vaara. You can get these for about $70 + shipping elsewhere. Other than that its a decent knife...The blade, like many volume production puukkot today, is from Lauri Mettalli.

Thanks for the info. It's good to know that they are decent knives. Any idea who is making the Jouni 70 for Kellam?

Thanks to all of you who shared the above info. Armed with a couple of maker's names and a search engine I've spent several enjoyable hours in the past few days getting better acquainted with the awesome fixed blade we know as the Puukko. Thanks again. -James

Did that sound like I was going away? Sorry, not my plan. When pics get posted I'll be here to take a look. I was just expressing my gratitude for the maker's names. One of these days I hope I can post some pics of my own.
