The Route #66

My 66 Calf Roper in hemlock green bone arrived yesterday. Gave it a healthy flush of mineral oil and a light stropping, and it went straight into my pocket for carry today.

I must say, the pulls on mine are nice. I'd rate them all about 5, maybe 5.5 on the main clip. Light, yes, but that was to be expected. Really nice walk & talk. I'm pleased, and lookin' forward to puttin' it to use!

I'll get some pics up tomorrow :D

A stockman with some nicely matched gnarly stag.

JohnDF thank you for posting the pic of the very nice purple sage knife. I've got one stored but haven't looked at it in years. The slim I have carried every day for years has so much wear on it that it doesn't even remotely resemble that color any more. Not to mention how much of the jigging has been worn off!

It is kind of shocking to see how much it has changed in comparison to the original.

You scored a nice one:thumbsup:
Thank you. :)

Please post a picture here if you can. I'd love to see it.

I really like the size of the #66 frame. This Jack was the first GEC I bought, I haven't carried it much recently, but it has been a firm favourite over a number of years.

I was very kindly gifted this Stockman by Duncan @Campbellclanman a few months ago, and I can see it also becoming an old friend :)

My two favorite Great Eastern Cutlery
knives. I wasn’t interested when they were released. I knew squat about Stockman patterns and figures the sheep foot would be in the way. Well, I learned about Stockman knives and how good a 3.5” serpentine pattern is. And I was for a while nudged in the too-weak blade pulls school. I would say this has become a meaningless internet meme.

You may think the pulls are too light and bemoan GEC’s temerity in releasing such a flawed knife. You may have physical difficulties and thank GEC for producing an outstanding knife that you are able to use.

I’m in the latter camp.
