My wife loves the TV show Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. Today I was watching it with her, and he had some nice sausage. I wasn't paying much attention until he pulled out a Resolza to cut the sausage. A little searching came up with the story - when he was in Sardinia, his crew took the horn from a goat that he ate to a local knifemaker, and had the knife made as a gift for him. He seems to really like it. I also saw a video where he talks about being obsessed with knives and says that every man should carry one. Here's a link to the story:

I really need to find some money to get one...

I'd be surprised if that were truly the case. Horn is one of the most "alive" materials when it comes to natural stuff. It has to be cured properly, otherwise it warps and tries to revert back to its original form. A freshly killed goat's horns is still green and would not be usable.

I agree with Christian. I assume it's something thrown there for the TV show audience. It is a fact that Zimmern likes Sardinian knives though. Just like Bourdain (who likes more than our knives - his wife is Sardinian too :D)

Sidenote: message for all the Sardinian Connection aficionados in the Lounge :)
