If the "gouge" in the blade that is being described is in fact the detent ball/lock face interface than clearly the buyer has no clue what they are talking about.

Yikes, the seller landed a "good one."

T The Shatz If you are willing to receive the knife back from him and it is in the condition you sent it, I agree that the better part of valor in this case may be to refund him and put it back up for sale. If it is not in the condition sent, clearly that would change the equation.

I wouldn't offer a refund in advance, especially since the buyer seems to be somewhat inconsistent, for lack of a better term and without throwing insults around.

Sorry that it has come to this. I think most of us here commiserate with you.

Yeah, could you imagine what it would be like, waking up on a beautiful TGIF morning finding yourself being sucked into this type of dramafest BS scenario.....

This is the type of buyer we seller's here, ALL dread, and hope that we will never have to deal with.

Sorry Shatz, I feel your pain. We all know, you're 1 of the good guys here.
 
I have no idea what has went on privately between buyer and seller so we don't have all the information, but from the buyers posts I wouldn't have high hopes.

As far as the pictures. I saw the pictures posted by the buyer last night and there were marks that are not present in the pictures posted today. How or when those marks got there I haven't a clue. Those pictures also show areas not visible in the sale ad photos.

I tend to lean towards return and refund minus shipping ... as long as the knife is returned in the same condition it was when sent. The pictures posted last night show things that are not visible areas from the sale ad photos, so there is no way to know on those.

If we hold the sale to the "no deal unless both parties are happy" it seems return and refund with the caveat of seller inspection of condition is best IMO.

I will add the buyer seems like a nightmare to try to communicate or deal with and is a no go in the future definitely. I hope it gets settled without our mods needing to spend a bunch more time on it ... these gentlemen don't get paid to deal with all this.

I like this idea. Consider the refund, but move cautiously by getting the photos first. My impression is that the knife looks pretty good, but with some small handling marks typical of a slightly used knife.
 
If the condition is important to the buyer then it's the buyer's responsibility to study the photos carefully and read the text carefully. This buyer has complained about
- marks that can be seen in the seller's photos
- silver fittings that were described in the sale post
- a "gouge" that is apparently a functional feature of the design of the knife. ( https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/my-impressions-of-the-sebenza-31.1744974/) and then
- marks that were in locations not visible in the sale photos.

Only the last are any basis for complaint, and if the seller checked and did not see them before mailing them I wouldn't trust the buyer whatsoever.
 
Not a “vaccine” 😱 against this sort of thing, but I’ve started to request “Gold or Platinum members only, please” when I post for sale.

I’ve sent him at Least 20+ Pics of the marks on the knife and a Gouge in the Blade and he’s called me a Liar,Buyer’s Remorse the List goes on and on BUT NEVER ONE TIME DID HE EVEN SAY ONE WORD ABOUT ALL THE PICS I SENT???? NOW WHY WOULD THAT BE???? You tell me people and we’ll all know! Now yes I can go through all the Crap to try and get my $ back which he told me he wasn’t going to GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK! but NOW my chances for getting that same knife have gone way down unless I want to Pay over a $1000+ and I could of got one right before I Bought from [The Shatz] but yes in was $125 more BUT MINT!!!! Same Knife.
Now I’m an EBay person have been for 24+ Yrs so I believe what people say when they got GOOD FEEDBACK! In Rare Cases It Happens but Not A lot. But this case showed me that was a Mistake. 2 days before I bought this (1st Buy on here) got a Reeve Ti-Lock and was Happy cause it was as Listed!

So I’ll get Stuck Paying CRK to Spa the knife and the blade part idk but I don’t see this being Cheap on me they will see it’s been taken apart before and there’s even a BIG SCRAP on the inside of a Scale so I’ve read there rules so I’d say there not going to cover it. Don’t forget let’s End all the speculation give me an email I tried imgar but only got 1 pic up then just got lost and don’t like putting apps on my phone unless I’ll be using them a lot

TL;DR

The gouge is normal, the marks were superficial. Get over it and move on. The way you conduct yourself is ridiculous.

If you decide to go with CRK spa. Service they will reblast the lockside for free as well as tune and sharpen, but will charge for any refinishing of the presentation scale or blade. They also can re-issue a box. No problem if it was taken apart. No need to send old box or paperwork in. If this is what you want to do, then take him up on covering shipping.
If you intend it to be a user, I would just do that, and deal with CRK down the line if needed.
Unless I am misunderstanding, the gouge is suppose to be there, the thumb studs and lanyard were disclosed, so the problem could be a few missed marks and a missing hex wrench(cheap). If those marks are on the bead blast it can be corrected, but will you soon will create new ones.

Show me one other member that posts the way you do, calling out days of reckoning, sporadic use of capitalization, ignoring and combating people answering your questions and trying to help you.
If you don't like the way you are being treated perhaps contemplate how you are conducting yourself.

I wouldn't send you anything either, after the tantrum you've thrown.

From what he stated I believe he only offered to, but the 2 of you did not come to an agreement. If postage will work, I would send him a message as well as stating so here. I think there is a good chance of your getting it .
