The Snark Abides

Scaring people that come to your front door is always a fun thing! I've done it a few times.

This one scam wanted a consent form signed to "reduce your electric bill" they had the power companies log and id tags, under the signing sheet was another sheet authorizing the transfer to a different service provider. I told the guy never to come on my street again or he'd be shot. The guy gave me a half grin cause he was found out, then walked to my neighbors house. I stood in my front door coughed loudly so he looked over, then I dry cycled my 870. Never seen anybody run that fast :D

Lol! Now I've done just the opposite. When I'm in the mood I will stand and talk with salesmen or whoever it may be until they are the ones getting antsy and tell me they need to be going.:D I'll think up question after question about whatever it is they have to offer and then walk down the street with them asking even more.
I don't do this very often but I never see them again afterword. It works!

I answered the door naked for JW's and invited them in to chat. They left me alone after that.

The Mormons however sent over the young womens group .... Sneaky Mormons

Sorry thorny. I really want it :( but with the wife on maternity leave my budget for anything other then food is pretty much non-existent.

ghods gift to craftspeople...

and abundance of GOOD cheap to free [hand] saws...

they're everywhere.

most are rusty, a lot need a good set, and a sharpen.

just followed a LONG video on how to do hand saws.

Stanley apparently made sawsets for QUITE some time. like the old #42. not even spendy.

saws. rawr.

speaking of, on the other and gripping hands: logging cross cut saws. have a few, will likely get more.

the tools for those are HARD to find. esp the stuff made this century (modern repros of high quality), or even last century.

keep your eyes out for me :D

Went to the antique store today and picked up a Nicholson file, three auger bits and a craftsman plane all for under $20! Pretty darn good if you ask me, also picked up a brand new resistol cowboy hat for $15 on Tuesday. Been a pretty good week if if I do say so myself

sweet !!!

Buddy of mine in Wichita just called -- friend of his down there is downsizing his tool collection.
Rigid 4331 13" triple blade power planer and JP0610 6" jointer for less than $400 for the pair.
He's going to go take a look tomorrow afternoon and talk to them, see what shape the tools are in, and ask about any chance of combo pricing them for a quick cash sale.
If they're in decent shape, I can sell my old Delta and make back a significant chunk of the cost.

I think I have an old cross cut laying around. I grabbed it at a local yard sale and have been looking into it recently. I will see if I can get some photos up for you on Sat.

Not the greatest of pictures... However OH SWEET JEEBUS!

So I started by pounding out some chicken breast (6) to 1/2-3/4" then I took a stick of butter mixed it with garlic, parsley, rosemary, thyme, salt, pepper, and tumeric. Then I dolloped the butter onto the chickenand broiled it for 7 minutes, flip it, and spoon the butter on top again, and then broiled for 8 minutes.

As for the rice, I used jasmine rice (3 cups) then I used 2 cups of beef stock, 2 cups of chicken stock, a cup of water, a cup of honey mead wine, 2 tablespoons of butter when it was cooked.

The green beans I started with Benton's bacon, then added in a shallot and half an onion and some minced garlic. Then I added in the green beans and some chicken stock and a cup of wine.

Then the sauce, I started by sauteeing a shallot and some onion, then added in half the bottle of wine let it reduce down half way, then I added in a cup of half and half, let it reduce down by half again, and added spices (garlic, lemon zest, salt, red pepper, lemon juice). Busted out the immersion blender made everything yummy yummy creamy, and then added cream cheese to thicken it up.

Yeah... Oh sweet jeebus! I had the rest of the wine with the food.
