The Snark Abides

Also, I'm seriously considering going somewhere near by and trying be an apprentice to learn how to make knives. There are lots of makers near and ot's something I think I would enjoy a lot.

:D I have a few snarky comments but Im feeling a little nice today.

The difference between the 560 and 562 is handle thickness, weight distribution, and grind. Everything else is pretty much the same. I personally disliked the way the 560 felt in the hand, just didn't jive with me. I love my 562.

If you like the 562 but not the price tag, the 0801 is nice. I have yet to get my hands on any of the 2015 ZT's but people seem to like em.

I need to figure something out for a sheath solution for my 0121. I've been wearing it cross draw but the stock sheath is too thick and its uncomfortable. The stock attachment sits too high and is uncomfortable. I've tried to use a metal ring for a dangler but the handle is too heavy and it keeps flopping. Ill have time this afternoon to think on it a bit.

binge.....just got a Brous Mini Division in the mail today (yesterday, picked it up at the PO this am) and a ZT 0630 came on to the Exchange almost immediately after...price drop and BAM!....should be here tomorrow. I'm totally digging the brilliance of the "Emerson Wave" and how a folding knife basically comes out of your pocket open. Showed someone the other day and they said "aren't those illegal?". Not that anything is in NH, but when I showed her it was an un-assisted folder, she was pretty astonished.

First time at the ronday-voo, eh? Was it right next to the booth selling tinder scraped from THE original cross that Jesus died on, or the cat peddling unicorn-horn powder love potions? That's cute. :D

Now... I'm not saying that any goofus selling knives "made of meteorites" with handles made from the ancestral tree that grew next to an historic figure's house is completely full of baloney... oh, wait. Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying.

Big feature article in one of the knife publications some months back about forging a blade from a piece of meteorite....made for some Discovery channel meteor hunter by an ABS Master Smith. I'll see if I can find the info; it was a gorgeous blade.....damascus meteorite.

Sweetness! let me know your impressions of the 0630 after you get to fondle it a bit ;)

I agree, the 'wave' feature is pretty sweet. I got that 'wave like' feature on my CS Spartan and think its pretty cool. I don't need anymore folders... but If I saw a ZT 620cf for a good price, my arm may be twisted.

just paid $7 for two threaded rods made in 1850 :D

lol

funnier, they're being held a few towns over.

who knew? :D

Flipside 3X.

I love mine, not a great option for back pocket carry, but i dont carry my wallets in my back pocket anyways!!

I'm thinking about the olive drab too. You get any of the accessories?

Well, I saw a 0620 G10 for an excellent price....but I was a hair late claiming it. Which turns out OK, 'cause I have been really wanting a Mini Division for a while and I prefer the blade shape of the 0630 vs. the tanto 0620. Got lucky (if you count spending a half a year's knife budget "lucky") this time. Got both thing I wanted. Gonna post some pics in the folders thread....but that Brous is a tank. Needs a little work, but for the price, I'm OK with that. Looking forward to the arrival of the ZT, and I will (hopefully) not find any other "needs" (or desires or wants) for a while; after all, the RBK should be out sometime this year .

I don't know, JT. I think the guy was probably telling the truth. The wood from the tree in the handles was authenticated when it fell back a few years ago, from what is on his website he's a family man, and his son literally almost pee'd himself when he saw my dad snatch up the knife and start looking at it.

T.M.Hunt company meeting today. Lol. Meeting with Murphs Dad and a buddy of his thats doing some surface grinding projects for us. Bartenders are much more courteous when you set 5 M18s on the counter before you order. :-)

Looks like an excellent meeting of the minds. Met a knife dude at teh beer store as I was buying some more Yazoo Sue smoked porter. We talked Kershaw and Skylines. BTW I am freakin' stoked about 154CM goodness from TM Hunt, Co. In other news, I am buying a Cold Steel Smatchet so fast it's not even funny.

Smatchet. Bitch.

Actually the OD color being released is what finally got me to order one. For a while they had a smaller version in OD (strata IIRC) so i emailed them back in 2013 asking about the flipside in OD, back when it was flipside 2x, and was told no time in the near future... a year and a half later... And here we are LOL

A buddy has the stow attachment but complains about the rattle it adds so i decided against that, im thinking about grabbing the kick attachment... But honestly at the moment i dont have any extra cards id want to put in there... I may still grab it anyways though...

Haha - you could use Smatchet as a verb much like how I use Swabbie.

Mmm... Yazoo. If the wife and I end up in Nashville at the end of the month, I'm making a B line to the brewery.

154CM TM Hunt goodness.... Hell yes.

Swabbie. Bitch!

Go for it. It is very rewarding.

Shout. I'll come runnin'.

I might have to bug you if we end up that way. We plan to split out early and spend the week before the gathering in TN. We still haven't planned out exactly where yet though. Going back and forth between Gatlinburg (area) or Nashville... Maybe both.

I'm still not sure. I'm 15, so I don't really have a career planned yet. And if I put enough time into it to get good I would want to at least try to make it my living and if not that, my main source of income which I know wouldn't be very easy.

Any input JT or Todd?

Don't worry about a career. Just be creative and have fun. If it isn't fun, it turns into work.... LOL

JT and Todd are great resources, I have picked their brains a few times.

Here's the meteorite/prayer tree/messenger bag/mammoth tusk knife.

My dad copied this (with a good bit snipped out since he couldn't copy/paste on his phone) from the facebook. "Gibson Meteorite Damascus blade. Leather spacer from Civil War courier bag.
Prayer Tree handles. Mammoth ivory tusk bolsters."

And here's the Chax. Didn't get any pics of the 77.

I actually kinda like the old handle material.

I know, but like I said, if I did try to become someone's apprentice, I'd have to drive a LOT, it would cost a bunch just in gas, and if I put a lot of time into it I would want to make some of that back. As it is I'm probably gonna build a little forge, figure out some kind of anvil, and then just use spring steel and stuff, if I don't enjoy it as much as I think I would, I wouldn't be out of too much, if I did enjoy it, I could try to make something of it.
