This is the natural polish of wenge after 600 grit and the buffer loaded with SCR (stainless compound):

in real life it looks like milk chocolate striped with L.A.Burdick's Bolivian Wild Harvested Dark. Yummy.

I'm home cause I have no life. I'm taking care of papa this weekend since mom is out of town for a funeral, and my sister is still up in Chicago. Tomorrow my steel should be getting here so I'm hoping to get started on that tomorrow... I should at least HOPEFULLY get the rough outline finished this weekend. Granted it won't be DONE for a while.

subs

are made for spanking. wow.

some subs can play 15 Hz at redonkulous volume, and sound completely clean. amaze.

other subs have sauce, and are made for eating...

yet another kind can go under for a long time, and is full of seamen

there are many kinds

but 15 Hz. thems nice.

are made for spanking. wow. <--YES

yet another kind can go under for a long time, and is full of seamen o_O Ummmm... note last page...

but 15 Hz. thems nice.
Yeah!

15 Hz for more than a couple seconds on high volume and still sounding clean, not all distorted, is pretty amazing. 15Hz is already hard to hear, for me anyways, so the volume would have to be pretty HIGH and that normally ups THD as well. What type of subs are you talking about Bladite? Car, home audio, or DJ equipment?

I would go down to 30 for short burst of a second or 2, but mostly stayed between 40-60Hz during drags... 40 was my favorite/best for my last setup. Clean SPL without noticeable distortion. Loved when it dropped down to 40 and you could feel that low base tickle all the hairs on your body!!

Today was the last day of school, finished my last two finals today and ended the year wilt all A's and B's, whew finaly over, then in two weeks its off to the Bahamas with my scout troop, can't wait!

Usually though, you still needed a key in the ignition...

My 2006 Toyota Prius has a start button AND the Toyota SmartKey® system. It just needs to be in the car somewhere for the vehicle to start when you push the start button. I wear the Toyota "key", which is a domino sized cartridge, on a lanyard around my neck.

Another advantage of the system is that if you try to lock the doors with the key inside, the car bitches at you and refuses to lock. Never have to worry about accidentally locking your keys in the car, which I used to do on frequently, which is why I started wearing a spare key on a lanyard way back in 1975 already.

I have never locked my car in the car. I always use my key fob to lock the doors. In the VERY unlikely event something DOES happen I keep a spare key (with fob) in my bag (actually hidden in there) but yeah, it isn't a problem for me.

last few pics, I'm gointa bed. hopefully these will show the colors more accurately. Please calibrate your monitors/devices before viewing.....or not.

marine seismic survey impulses are centered around 8Hz, traverse the entire water column at full ocean depth, penetrate kilometers of rock, and bounce back up to be heard near the surface with hydrophones. Or across an ocean if you're listening.

Same system in a couple hundred meters of water? Now that's a SERIOUS kick in the transom.

GSOM, that handle is looking good. Though you may have some cross-grain grinding scratches still in there to get out... may have to go back a couple grits if you're feeling picky. Wenge looks good. Mr. M filled the wenge grain w/ superglue and sanded. Did that a couple times, and it sealed it all up really nicely.

i'm not sure humans can "hear" 15 Hz. feel? yes. it's a very low freq. even with a good test CD, it's a good punch in the pant, but it's not really "a sound". for me anyway...

http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3mk4.html

mmm, current specs say 16 Hz. bah :D

Yea probably the only thing you actually "hear" is the distortion. And thats probably why i would have to turn it WAY up to get any sound that low in freqs.

That sub has some sweet specs!! I like the VTF technology. I had to change EQ settings and build different enclosures to tune my system to a different frequency, this sub makes it a bit easier :)

Do you have that sub, or used it first hand? Sounds like the price is actually pretty good on it for the quality.

Man this single fly is pissing me off. He is smarter than me and obviously knows it. He keeps flying by my face as i type and when i stop and get something to smack him out the air with he disappears on me. I get up, walk around looking for him and he just hides and waits. Its a repeating process for 2 hours or so now. I have chased it, cussed it, and threw stuff at it. But now i got a can of hairspray next to me just waiting for his punk butt to fly back by me. Ill probably end up coating my LED screen as well but at this point i dont even care. Hairspray makes them so they cant fly anymore.. it doesnt kill them though, but a fly that cant fly is a pretty easy target LMAO

if you had a car you could lock in the car, what kind of car would it be?
Ferarri Tesseract?
if electric would it be a Teslaract?
Tardis?

those cylinders hanging below the floats with the blue wrappings in the middle are the 'speakers' of the seismic system that was on the Ewing (the former UNOLS/NSF seismic ship). There was an array of 20, 10 per boom, and while operating they'd be towed just behind the ship. That huge winch with black cable on it (behind the gun boom) is a 6km 'streamer' full of hydrophones. Took a few hours to deploy.

They're powered by 2000psi air compressors, which would fill each 'gun'. When triggered, they'd all release their air chambers at once. That disturbance in the surface around the floats is the 'shot' going off. Then we'd be quiet for awhile to listen to the return signals from below the sea floor. IIRC, a normal survey would require one shot every 50m, and a 5kt that's about a shot every 20-30sec (if memory and conversions serve... - though I seem to recall ~50sec spacing).

In 2001, we did a transit of the Indian Ocean from the Seychelles to Australia with just a skeleton science crew, mostly simply making way. A couple times a day we'd fire a couple shots to calibrate the listening stations around the ocean rim. So yeah... we made some noise.

So what I really want to know is.... do I win the big speaker contest? :D

These days I just troubleshoot multibeam sonars. ;)

Thats awesome Daizee.

It would be so awesome to get to spend a few days out on your "boat".... Just think... You get PAID to do it... Lucky bum.

One of my jobs during college was as a stage hand -- I wore earplugs and was still half deaf the next day.
got paid to see some good shows, though.
