The Snark Snarks at Night!

Just got my CRKT woods hawk today. If you are thinking about getting one I would say wait. Mine wasn't much better than the Cold Steel ones but at almost twice the price. The head had come off the handle at some point and there were gouge marks and a burr where the head and been forced on. Not very much of a burr but it was still there. To top it off the end was split from being chucked into the lathe a little too tight. And there was the very minor issue of excess finish on the butt of the handle. It looks like the handles are dipped in the finish and hung to dry. Makes sense, that would move things along pretty quick. But as a result there's milky white dribbles on the bottom. Not much of an issue really considering the chuck marks from the lathe.

It's also heavy. At least as heavy or maybe a little more than a CS pipe hawk. I like tomahawks to be fairly light, that's part of the appeal for me. I may just get a refund and forget the whole thing based just on the weight.

And in case you're wondering, no the handles will not swap between the CRKT and the CS.

That sucks!! I was planning on picking one up, but maybe I'll wait a while.

That sucks, I have been waiting for them since I got an email last year.. I have one on my wish list on the river place. Hopefully they clean it up, especially at that price. How well is the head made? like the fit and finish. The weight doesn't concern me as much as the lack of quality.

Seems we have a new member names Mr. Dickiss........with a name like that I wonder how long he will be around.

Well the one was definitely still a heck of a deal! Its hard to shoot 2 at once anyways. I believe I'm selling my Kahr CW9 to a guy I know. I shoot it well and its a good gun, but it just doesn't fit my shooting style anymore. I believe I'll be replacing it right away with a compact m&p or a glock 19

When they first came out with the m&p's the private security company I was working for transitioned over to using them (.40 cal). Got a week long tactical pistol training course from a S&W instructor. Fun times! I liked the weight and handling. The different palm swell kits it comes with is pretty awesome too. I found it really comfortable to shoot. The tritium sites were pretty cool for no/ low light drills.

Mmmm. Hot sauce. I'm with you WW, I like to mix them from time to time. My favorite right now is some no name stuff from wally world. I do however like to mix the hot sauce that goes with what I'm eating (the whole bottom shelf of the fridge is dedicated to hot sauce) with my ghost pepper sauce. Mmmm hot and tasty.

TBL the M&P is the deal. My edc is a full size 40 with the Apex trigger kit.

I can't stand the way the M&P feels in hand. Just makes me think of big butts or something. I like them under certain circumstances, but not on the grip of my gun. It's really too bad, because it's a nice gun, especially with the Apex kit. Fortunately, I discovered the Walther PPQ and never looked back.

Different strokes for different strokes. I really like Glocks but have yet to find one that feels good in my hand.

Same here.
I like the way my Glock carries, especially IWB.
I just got some Talon Grips and it feels pretty good.
It still doesn't mold into my hand like my XD does.
I really enjoy the way my XD feels and I'm more accurate with it too.

Guns like knives we all find our different form of sexy. Just like how all men see women slightly different. We all know what works for us ;)

I loved that m&p. But I also fancy a Beretta 92fs (M9). That one is next in line for my gun purchases. I'll be able to swap the mags between it an my CX4.

Has anyone had experience with the Advantage Arms or Tactical Solutions .22 conversion kits for Glocks.
If so, what do you think about them?

The other manufacturers I'd really like to try are Sig Sauer and CZ. I also think Glocks are great pistols, but can't stand the way they feel/shoot for me, and they're just so blocky. I'd not say no to a free one, but I'll likely never pick a Glock as my first choice for a carry. As a lefty, the ambi controls of the PPQ M1 really suit me well, and if you like the way the XD feels, you'll likely love the PPQ.

Knowing CRKT I would expect them to work the bugs out in short order, if mine wasn't just a fluke/Friday special to begin with. I got it from the river so I'm going to exchange it. As far as quality of the head goes it looks pretty good. No irregularities or inconsistencies Like what I've seen on every single CS hawk I've handled. If the handle and head were fit right then I would say it was worth the money for sure. Just wish they'd make a sheath for it.

Could be worse! I have a IRL friend who's last name is Butts.

I knew a guy named Dick Piper. Not even kidding. Heard of another fellow from my hometown named Richard Rash.

Wilson Combat just started offering custom work on customer supplied Beretta 92 variants, including a G conversion. I would really like to get an M9A1 and have them work it over.

I bought a Tac-Sol 15rd kit as soon as they hit the market. I had a lot of teething issues with mine but the company was eager to fix them. Had to order updated parts once and send it back once. I got out of guns for a while so I haven't shot it in over two years so I don't recall how well it's working right now. I think tac-sol makes 15 round mags for the AA kits too.
