I was using the klean strip gel from wally world..worked well but was messy, and used a lot of it. I switched to the wally world spray can stripper..I think it's also klean strip...works just as well and is a LOT easier to use. I lay knife on a piece of cardboard, spray it heavy, flip it over, spray other side, then leave it for 10-20 minutes, or whenever it starts peeling off. The old coating like what is on the 11 comes off real easy. The newer coating is tougher.
FYI, if u use the same brand I do, you can tighten the scales on, and spray right over it..so the coating is intact on the handle under the scales...the spray didn't affect my zytel at all.
I decided to sand the finish off my Condor Nessmuk. They claim it's a "blasted satin" finish, but it looks more like a grey coating to me. Now I can't decide if i want to do a patina, or cold blue it. Hmmm..."sandpaper is your friend."
Stroke. stroke. stroke.
man, I gotta do some of that too.
7 blades worth! *facepalm*

Has that ever really been confirmed? Not doubting it, but I have seen so many people having different views on it.If you dont use it for food go with the blue.
TB - it's amazing how much you look like a young Telly Savalis -- now hurry up and grow it all back!
Got my Kelty Strike 2300 pack in today. Just finished adjusting it and am very, very impressed with the quality and materials. Will be a perfect 2-3 day loadout.
It's the deal of the century on a 2300 c.i. pack.

I know it contains selenium, and can be fatal if swallowed, but what about after it's reacted on the blade, and you scour/clean the remainder off?
EDIT: I contacted Birchwood Casey. Hopefully I'll get a response from them tomorrow.
Sanding sucks. That is all.
But that's from swallowing it, not using a knife after the process. I'm not saying it's not poison, just sayin'...Edit: Ran a quick google search the whole first page was talking about deaths from it. Didnt even bother clicking the "next" button
Were those from straight blue, or food cut by a blued blade? Because IIRC bluing is more or less a patina. *ETA Warrior beat me to the "punch".The way I see it if you spend the time to clean it and scrub it so it doesnt smell you should be ok. BUT Id rather be alive and healthy then sit at the ER from ingesting (if thats the right term) poison.

Like I said, I contacted Birchwood Casey, we'll see what they have to say. Be interesting to know one way or the other.
I kind of want to know that too. I think the 9 would look cool blued but I use it to cut food up sometimes so I didnt bother. Also isnt thrills 17 blued? HEY Thrill get over here...
Trade, order up!
