The Survive! Never Say Die! Chat Thread

Well that was fun being singled out. My bad for thinking that thread was in the Whine and Cheese sub forum in the first place.

you called out a big dogs minion, its to be expected, New Guy

WTF... I don't know enough about what happens outside here, is that really how it works?

Standard, I was surprised all of your posts were quoted. Oh well. After Ellie got involved it almost seemed like the conversation might go somewhere. I was really hoping threads like that died once SURVIVE! got their own subforum.

The OP of that thread with 3 posts and seemingly no knowledge of how a forum works sure stirred things up!

EDIT: Maybe a good thing the thread was locked... the guy who had to bring up how your parents would feel about your posts... I feared for that guy and your reply to him...

I lurk everywhere in this forum, the crowd in the gbu section is as tight as in here it appears, but they're like some vigilante vultures, although i am guilty of participating on occasion. I'm pretty sure that 3 post guy knows what he's doing.

Everywhere? Even the..................... pirate's cove???

I lead such a sheltered life. It will be interesting to see what else comes of this. That guy's other post was locked as well! I didn't get a chance to say over there that I was wondering the same thing about when 5.1 production even started.

Apparently the part where he chose to bring up how I was brought up was overlooked. Once he crossed that line it was over.
Oh well I'll let it go. I'm just a guest in this house so I'll let bygones be bygones.

Ok ok, one last thing. I don't get how dlt is doing himself any favors by jumping in and talking like that. I was surprised.

like i said they're like a flock a vultures/jackals/hyenas that think they're vigilantes righting wrongs by offering up their opinion. it's the same people in there every time, sometimes someone with actual first hand experience with the situation will participate. mob rule.

Well that definitely sounds like a place I'll be avoiding.

I'm not. Eric at DLT pulled some similarly classless stuff with Ken Schwartz when they parted ways. I've seen him be rude and slimy (I'm trying to be polite here) more than once on other threads. I spent almost $1K buying Fiddlebacks from him last year, but never again. There are too many other options.

Standard78, while I TOTALLY get where you are coming from, you did get a little heated. I didn't get the "new guy" comment from Rev D. FWIW, I usually find him to be a level headed and objective dude. The rest of the regulars in Feedback can be a little sanctimonious and act like a lynch mob. I was sad to see how they piled onto S!K as quick as they did.

I understand not wanting to pay upfront with no guaranteed delivery date. I understand not wanting to participate in the Starter Campaign / crowd-funding. However, S!K was totally upfront about their business model and the fact that they could not guarantee delivery times. S!K always responds to e-mails and calls (granted it might take a few days), is constantly communicating via their sub-forum, is incredibly transparent about their business, makes a great product, offers a great warranty and has NEVER ripped off anyone. With that in mind, I don't understand why there are folks that are so quick to vilify them. I guess that some dudes just crave drama...

I don't get out in the rest of the forum too much. Fiddleback, Maintenance and here are where I spend the majority of my time. I have found this sub-forum to be very cool and filled with good people. Regardless of what a few (insert derogatory of choice term here) think about S!K, the regulars here get what Guy and Ellie are doing, appreciate the product and service they provide, and as a group we have created a really cool vibe here.

Anyway, I am rambling. Had a long and particularly painful PT session today and I washed down a painkiller with a glass of wine. That always makes me chatty and goofy. Cheers!

What I dont get is the need to talk a bunch of shmack about a company or person you dont like. For example... I dispise Strider knives, owned a couple, sold em all. I do not feel the need to talk a bunch of S about them or belittle anyone who does like them. I dont even feel the need to say why I do not like them. What does it accomplish?

I hear you, Riz.

I seriously don't get the OPs problem. In my experience, S!K always returns e-mails and calls. I have contacted them 3 times, twice by phone and once by e-mail. Ellie answered the phone once, returned the message I left in 24 hours the second time I called, and returned my email in 2 or 3 days. I hear similar reports from everyone else. I won't call the OP a liar, but his experience does not match everything else I have heard. it makes me wonder...

Yeah I went a bit far but in my defense I thought that thread was in the whine and cheese where anything can be said. It was my mistake and I'll take blame.
Edited because it's not worth talking about

I called a spade a spade when I shouldn't have and asked a simple question about comparisons being clear that I wasn't bashing or talking trash on other makers. Once my upbringing was brought into question, the gloves were off. I just find it funny how I was singled out while the other dude that made it personal got away scot free. Man on Man disagreements don't bother me but dragging my family into it is lame.

I hear you, and hope i didn't come off as talking down to you. I also don't get why the Rev's comments were so one sided. Like you said, water under the bridge. We can move on, just never buy from DLT again. That dude is a snake.

Oh no you're good! Haha!
I figure the Mods are the bosses for a reason so I'll deal with it.
It was pretty bad for DLT to jump in there to voice his opinion. I've never spent money there and I don't see it happening now.

That thread only made me want to buy more knives from Guy & Ellie. And I will. Sure it takes a while to get them, like answers to some emails. But if you ever have any "real" issues with your knife, customer service is top notch and could easily rival any other company I've delt with. :)

But yeah, ok, I'm a fanboy. But for a reason. :)

Isn't it as simple as, if you don't like their policy DON'T BUY THE KNIFE!! If I'm not mistaken their are a couple of other knife companies out there.

I took my dad out to the Grand National Roadster Show today and had a pretty good time. I wish I could've taken more photos but it was pretty packed.
