The Survive! Never Say Die! Chat Thread

Hey-all!! I just wanted to give the survive group a shoutout! I think our numbers have grown because of the great knives and the great attitudes of the people that frequent here. I lurk in a number of other sub threads but many of them just end up childish and repetitive. I know anything involving passion and the internet (and large sums of money) will inevitably have its problems, but i check the sub-forum daily and always see positivity... thanks guys!

And thank you survive for making a fantastic no nonsense brand of knife that seems to attract these great folks!

cheers!

Redwood

Redwood, I agree! I love seeing the "regulars" and new people stopping by and sticking around. I hope it comes with time, but this is definitely the smallest, sometimes slowest, forum I've been on and I'd love to see it grow. But I'd rather have it that way then the other way around like you described. And I wish we had a moderator.

I love the involvement from Ellie and any time Guy gives us a sneak peak at something.

I do like the positive vibe around here. Even the majority of newcomers recognize that S! is a 2 person operation and they are busy running the business the very best they can and yes, there are wait times involved when ordering. I get angrier than I should seeing an overflow of whining on Facebook anytime Guy or Ellie post something even something that should be taken as good news or an exciting update is met with a bunch of negativity.

Back to being positive, of course thanks to Guy and Ellie, but also a big thank you to all of you making this a nice place to be on a regular basis!

By the way, if you don't mind me asking, whereabouts in NoVA are you?

Got to buzz through the hills a little last weekend and snapped a few pictures. The view from the top:

My normal route across the canyon. I decided to take the cooler side of the hill for this trip.

Nasty little section of trail. That country's as steep as a cow's face.

But the mulberries were ripe in the bottom

Probably why there was more bear sign

Forgive the non-Survive! content

And there were even a couple hungry channelcat to be caught while casting a spinner for smallmouth (Must have been the weekend for 'cats and not bass TT).

Looking across into Oregon. Those boys got 'em a nice road on their side, ha!

Hey S!K crew.. My name is Mike and I am a long time knife junkie.. I have been lusting after a GSO 4.0 or 3.5 for quite sometime now and have been lurking through this forum since it started.. I don't frequent BladeForums nearly as much as I used to, but I am sure I will be more soon.. Looks like a great bunch of folks here in this forum.. :) I am an avid traditional archer/bowhunter and mtn biker.. My family and I live In the Santa Cruz mountains and spend a lot of time in the woods..

I was recently finally able to get my paws on a GSO 3.5 in 3V, with camo micarta scales.. Should be here sometime next week hopefully.. I have been wanting one of these for awhile now and am pretty stoked, they look like great all around knives, I can't wait to check it out.. I'll get some pics up after it arrives..

Welcome! Great first post, you'll fit right in here. I'll be looking forward to more posts and pics of your GSO's and your adventures in the woods and mountains!

I love my 3.5, but can't wait to receive some of the medium sized blades in the line up.

Right on guys.. Thanks.. Have'nt even received my 3.5 yet and I'm already trying to see which knife I want next.. :)

Its OK we all have that itch.

Nice channel cat HK. I'll be trying another lake next week a couple hours north of me. I work out of town and been driving by it the last few months and I just can't resist it. So part of my work bag will be fishing gear. :) I been talking to locals and they say there's good bass. But everyone says that.

Looks like a nice trip HK! Is that a Samurai?

Yeah it's an '86 Samurai. I've been working pretty hard to get it back in shape from the previous owner, ha! She's getting around pretty good now, fun little ride :)

Not as nice as your blues  But thanks man, it was fun catching them. I hope that bass lake pans out for you.

They're one of the best off-road vehicles out there. That wheelbase and light weight make them really great for snow also. I remember watching them buzz by my grandpa and I when we were camping up in Evergreen CO. He would laugh his ass off when the guys in their huge lifted trucks would get suck and a little Samurai or Sidekick would cruise by with no problem!

Lol. I definitely get to hunt a few extra spots with it. It's so light it just stays right up on top, and that little sucker will about climb a tree, but stay off the side-hills!!

Hitting the hills for a couple days, have a good weekend fellas.

Lucky! Have fun and stay safe.

Lolololololol! I had forgotten that I took this screen shot of a youtube comment quite awhile back. I wish I could remember what video it was from. B T made me laugh out loud when I read this.

I've been active on another subforum here longer than ours and the majority of folks there are completely happy with 1095. I realize not everyone has a desire for super steels. And really 1095 and 440c have and continue to serve me just fine now that I'm deeply entrenched in the obsession over GSO's. With that said, I seem to see CPM 3v being used a lot more now than when I took this screen shot. At the time Guy was the only one I knew of using 3v and I still thought this was funny enough to hold on to. Now even more so. Anyways, enjoy.
