The Survive! Never Say Die! Chat Thread

Ellie! I always appreciate you taking time for us. Thanks for making that new thread... BUT the last thing I wanted was another thing for you to have to manage. I thought it could be useful to have a running list from the customer perspective and more importantly something that we were taking care of. You're busy enough with the official Production Schedule and the other 424, 753 things on your to-do list.

I must say that I like the shipping status update post.
Was that what you were requesting Silver?

See my post above yours. OF COURSE I appreciate anything Ellie does for us, but I wasn't asking her to take on something extra for us.

Her post seems pretty similar to the Production Schedule already on the website and she really doesn't need to manage two of them :D

I was also thinking if we updated it off of our own input it would be from our perspective on the receiving end and not centered on the shop.

Thanks Silver. I was trying to figure out whether you wanted the complete status history of each model (or model variant) or if you just wanted a bit more detail of the current shipping status of each model.

Yeah, I was going for updates as WE see them. I don't know if me trying to make sense of all our clamoring would be helpful or be OK with Ellie, so I'll lay off the idea for a while and see how things go.

The production schedule is plenty detailed. No need for another thing to manage. Just keep referring people to the production schedule.

Any one ever hike the Ouachita mountains? I'm headed there in November and was wondering if I should do the eagle rock loop clockwise or counter clockwise.

If you've never heard of it, I believe it's the largest loop in Arkansas at approximately 28 miles. With 9 mountains and several water crossings. I'm really stoked about this trip, my buddy and I have been wanting a longer trail then the ones we frequent. Not sure if we're in shape enough but guess we'll just have to see.

Does anyone else ever get irritated enough at the negative stuff floating around you check the website just to see if there's something you can buy to support them? The latest 'We know better than you' thread really makes me want to reflexively send them money.

I've never heard of it but it sounds like a hell of a photo op!

Tt, if you see any large black translucent rocks lying around, put some in your backpack. They make wonderful razor finishing hones. Anything translucent of any color is superb. I have a full Arkansas progression for honing razors. Never been there though.

Yes. :)

That sounds like one hell of nice trip bud. Hopefully you won't get shitty weather out there during November. I guess it couldn't be much worse than what you've already had to deal with this year.

How is everybody doing? I drove over 3000 miles around Colorado over the past few weeks to capture the fall foliage (and to show other people some of the areas). Yesterday morning, I woke up in my little Jeep Renegade and saw that it had snowed quite a bit. A good ending for my road trip. My GSO 4.7 was always with me and provided for several campfires and quite a few utensils (spatula, forks, etc made out of wood). Just thought I post a nice photo since there appears to be a lot of negativity in a lot of the posts here. ;)

Holy cow, LarsL! That is beautiful. You are blessed both with the opportunity to see things like this, and with the ability to share it with us. Thanks! Stunning photo, but more so in person.

can't....

...be....

...real?

Wow, does this guy ever have talent. Remind us, LarsL - that's your profession, right? It is how you make the funds to buy your everyday food and shelter? Just stunning....

It is a 25-second log exposure before sunrise. The snow really made for a great photography morning.

Yes, I do sell photos, sell wall calendars, give lessons, provide workshops etc. I went full time with this back in April because I could no longer do this AND have a full time job, too. :) I spend a lot of time camping for this so it is always a good idea to have some awesome knives with you.
