The Undauntable Cattle Knife

Gevonovich my friend - well as per usual a great Thread
Heres a few..

I think I would put big money on that this knife has the well known Utica Bone, I have quite a few knives with that-its identical in every way..lovely knife...

Cattle Knife or Whittler? ( terrible photo sorry )

Again, in another knife - beautiful Bone when you handle this knife in person - but because its so dark in the photos's it's hard to appreciate - did Kutmaster use Utica Bone at any stage?

Imperial -this knife is just beautifully made - a lovely knife indeed!

EDIT: added - a photo of a knife only marked Made in U.S.A. strongly suspected to be Camillus, alongside the Imperial - both knives in beautiful shape..

You bunch of guys are just incredible!! I go have some dinner and come back to all this beauty!! Makes a knife nut's heart smile!!

Great thread and some wonderful knives, I'm sure there are many more to come :)

Charlie - This is the best I can get until the light gets better. These were an SFO for SMKW in 2010. The Waldens were basically Northfields and the Ulsters were Tidioutes. The photo w/ both knives is SMKW marketing material I think.

Both cattle knives from GEC.

Here's my only equal end and cattle knife pattern. It's an imported Boker Plus
Well I think it is but I'll let the experts weigh in on it. The small spey blade is a bit different than the others in the thread. I'm not ashamed to admit I'm not very familiar with this pattern. I do find this knife to be very handy around the house. The punch has so many uses. And my apologies if it doesn't fit the category.

Nice thread. Clearly, one of my all-time favorite patterns...(as if my avatar and "cattle knife rustler" wasn't a clue...)

Here's a little write-up on some custom versions of the genre.

Many believe the stockman is an evolution of a cattle knife.
Some producers interchange the names, confusing us all.
I call equal-enders cattle knives, including some variations.
And I agree with Robin (pipeman) that Stockmen are serpentine patterned.
Did I mention I love the Cattle pattern?
I will dig up some pics also!!

Charlie you and I have discussed the more esoteric points of Cattle knives on a couple of occasions I think. I am pretty well convinced that the Cattle knife was first and then the Stockman. I had a request in my Signature line for over a year to see a picture of a Stockman with a spear master. Many consider this to be the transitional knife between Cattle and Stockman patterns that is often referred to as a Premier or Equal End Serpentine Cattle knife. I have yet to be shown one.

I will try to get some pics up later, I have a couple:D For those that are into this pattern might I suggest a look here as well:

I missed that thread on my initial search...how it did not come up I don't know. Thanks, Brad! I hope Charlie still posts some of those old beauties in here. SK showed a magnificent one. Some others as well.

Brad, I hope we do see the transition knife you speak of show up! Any discussions you had with Charlie that you may want to elaborate on, I for one, would love to hear.

Blues, I of course originally fell in love with the pattern after seeing you thread!!!

Here's my only cattleman, a brother to Duncan's above. It looks to have been fairly commonplace, given the number of specimens out there.

Thanks for linking that one, Elliott. I enjoyed looking through it this time as much as I did the first.

Some day I will find a stockman with a spear blade, Brad.
I have accepted the challenge and I am still looking!!

Thanks for the pix, Mark!!
