The unofficial, non binding, carries no weight, 2021 forum knife possibility discussion thread

Which list is this you're referring to? The mods have already compiled a list?

In the aftermath of previous BF knives, folks have spotted when members have sold the knives on auction sites for more than cost and notified the moderators. The moderators can check the list and deny known "flippers" from purchasing another forum knife to sell at a profit.

My problem with the flippers is that if they flood the "I want one/two/three list" there could be genuine porch members that miss out on getting on the list. There needs to be some sort of criteria that allows legitimate porch members to fill out the list before flippers are allowed. It might be as simple as saying "one knife per person only". If there was a search protocol that checks members' postings... anybody with 90% or greater posts in the buy/sell threads are considered flippers... I don't know how that would be done, though.
Either way, I'm not going to sweat it. I either get one, or I don't. I'd love to have one or two of them, but life is too short to worry about a knife.

We really won't know what sort of situation we are dealing with until Bill Howard gives us a limit on how many he is willing to run (which he may not have, if our numbers are within his tolerances). Any word on how many knives Bill would be willing to make for the Forum, Charlie? @waynorth

But wait, I've hit on the correct scale option that encapsulates the Modern Age! No Glittery stuff but absolutely CLEAR ACRYLIC it's all 100% homogenous, no whining about seams, everybody's the same, nobody feels better or inferior and you can't hide, you're always on view :D Plus, with clear plastic you don't need to worry what the liners are - brass or steel, hell we could go LINERLESS :) " I can see for miles and miles and miles---"

You joke, but I think a linerless clear acrylic GEC would be kinda cool, like a pocket knife version of a “demonstrator” fountain pen. Of course, you’d have to ditch the bolster and do a shadow pattern to get the full effect, so maybe it’s not best for this project. ;) :D

Thank you for the mock ups Darren !!!
I like the randomness, both texture and color, of this Chestnut Jigged Bone best ...

Hey Darren, thank you for mocking everything up. I think the visualization is super helpful seeing what these would actually look like. I'm still in the ivory/white bone camp, and I wanted to ask - are you willing to mock up the white bone with a long pull? I really like the long pull with the fancy bolster on the blackwood and soup bone rendition, and I can't help but feel as if it would have a significant (I'm betting positive) impact on the presentation of the knife.
