The upcoming, anticipated, way-too-excited GEC 85's Thread!

I finally got a good day to take some pics of the whole family together:

If I had to pick, I would say that the bloodwood versions are my favorite; I tend towards single blade knives normally, but I do have to say that packing that little coping blade along for the ride doesn't bug me one bit. The stag is really beautiful, but I guess I was a bit unprepared for how much width the covers add to the knife. If I would've had the choice between smooth polished and the natural when I ordered it, I think I would have gone with the polished. I think I would prefer the thinner covers. Still, mine is a great looking knife for sure.
I have very much watching this thread progress, and thanks for all the great pictures from everyone!
Brian

I'm up go three. An old pen and spear cocobolo with no EO, a yellow bone single, and a blood wood two blade from this run. OK not a fan of anything red, so I am really glad my blood wood model came out s lot lighter and less red than most I've seen posted. Now to wait on a harness Jack someday.

I could swear I ordered a polished stag but this is one of the naturals, not that I'm complaining it came out great! On another note, this is the sharpest GEC I've ever received. Unfortunately, the blade raps the back spring and dents the edge :( I really struck out on these, my jigged bone 85 had a crack in the bone and the springs, liners and bolsters where not flush on the end cap. Mike did fix that problem for me though. Even so, in very happy to have these in my collection and I believe this will become one of my main carries☺

Thanks everyone for all the pictures from a fellow who has no photographic or posting talent. I was able to get a single blade scandi-grind, and would have loved to get a 2 blade, maybe in Bloodwood, to go along with it, but I guess it just wasn't to be. I'm thinking that coping blade riding side-car would be be pretty neat.

I'm wondering what's next? I think I know the camp knife and variations are in progress and the Beagle is coming on it's heels, but does anyone know or have an informed guess as to what might be next? I'm hoping for a 92 run this year among others. Anxious I guess.

Take care all, and Happy Easter,
Rick

You should post pictures of your 85 if you want to..... a plain old fashioned picture of a knife is just as good as any for a knife forum.

Beerscout and #15 Boys Knife w/ sheep/bottle opener are coming. My shot in the dark guess is camp, whittler, beagle, beerscout, boys knife, maybe a 55 or 92? - who knows... I don't.

CBR,
Thank you so much for your response. My apologies to the forum, as I thought I was posting the question in the "Lets Talk GEC" thread. I'm hoping for a 92 pattern as well as maybe some single blade 15's this year. I'm sure a 55, or maybe even a 56 pattern would be good too.
Thanks again,
Rick

A photo I took using some refracted fill light to properly show off this bloodwood.

That is just about the best attempt I have seen capturing the chatoyance of blood wood. Very well done. It is a fascinating wood! Almost impossible to capture in pictures, incredible in person.
Thanks,
Brian

Thank you Brian for the compliment, there certainly is chatoyance in this bloodwood that is eye catching.

Tim - Great looking Bloodwood double there. I am glad you were able to score one of these. I have a single Bloodwood and I think the grain and texture of the wood is quite beautiful. :)

Thank you Ron, it really is something else. It's a deep red in overcast light and this beautiful sparkling wood in stark light.
