The upcoming, anticipated, way-too-excited GEC 85's Thread!

Thanks for the reply. It's exactly what I was hoping to hear!

Me too! I have a 2 blade in bloodwood on reserve. It will be my second GEC but my very first brand new one. I also have a Beagle on reserve in jigged bone, I hope it's a color that I like!

Here is my first and only GEC so far, a green jigged bone Ranch Hand 741213 from a forum member which I love! Sorry for amateur pic.

The Ranch Hand is a great GEC jb, useful size and attractive.:thumbup:
The bloodwood 85 is another excellent choice, I know cuz I have one on reserve as well.:D:)

I, too, am really looking forward to this next batch of #85s. I'm thrilled that they'll have a less-used shield. I'm also happy to see that some smooth stag will be available. I'm REALLY hoping to get one of those! I like the idea of being a "user," I don't like being afraid to use any knife I buy. But when it comes to 85s, I have a weakness. This is probably my favorite pattern. I've collected several. I've also let a couple go and don't have pictures of those. Unlike most other patterns, I really have a hard time narrowing down which colors/configurations of the #85 are my favorite.

The one that keep eluding me, though, is the 2011 forum knife. I hope some day one of those will cross my path.

Nice collection, mcar. I think after this run the harness Jack will be the one I am holding out for. The jigged one on the far right of your picture is about as perfect as an 85 could get to me. Such a cool pattern. I previously preferred the EO, but looking at your picture I think I actually prefer some of the ones without it.

Super jealous!

I'm with you there. I actually prefer some without the EO as well and I will also agree that the walnut jig bone HJ is at the top of the 85's made yet.

MCar - That's a fine collection!!!!!! :eek::eek::thumbup::thumbup::)

Haha, thanks guys. Doesn't really compare to ClutchCarter's collection (but what could!) Yes, I agree with everyone--At first I was really after the EOs and while I still love them, I appreciate the non-EO versions just as much now. I was lucky to catch that jigged bone harness jack. I also really love light and dark wood in the ebony version of that same SFO Harness Jack. It does not attract as much attention as the bone, but when you get it in-hand you appreciate it more.

I'm glad you're enjoying that! Good choice on a second, I'm getting maybe 1 or 5 [emoji6]

Has there been any updates on what that Scandi blade is going to look like? If we don't any official word, speculation is always perfectly acceptable!

Maybe something like the blade in this old ad?

Where's Mike? :)

This has been a great read for me, and enjoy seeing all these beautiful variations!
I am happy to report that the GEC "what's happening" page shows some bloodwood blanks being cut and sized. . .
Fun times ahead!!
Thanks,
Brian
