The "Whatever" Thread

Glad you and the girls had a great day. Good pick-up on the belt. Wearing a "proper" belt, I've got a couple A&G Gunleather belts that I like, makes all the difference when carrying.

Y'all ever had ya some VINEGAR PIE?

I was riding my old Sportster somewhere near the Cumberland Gap, when I spotted a sign that said VINEGAR PIE TODAY in front of a diner. I did a quick U turn and went in and had me some, along with a most pleasant conversation with a most pretty young lady who was my waitress. Seems that vinegar pie was a way to make a pie similar to Lemon pie when you couldn't get lemons. Pretty good too! but I finished up with a slice of "pe-con" pie. to sasify my sweet tooth (teeth).

Sounds interesting, Brad. Vinegar pie, pecan pie and cutie pie!

Down south you can find sugar pie - similar to a pecan pie without the pecans.

Stopped by a pawn shop that I used to work in, during college & grad school, the other day. I wasn't expecting much, as things have changed dramatically since I was there. The local owner sold to a national operation a few years ago and the place lost it's charm. (And yes I believe a pawn shop can have a certain charm). To my suprise a guy I used to work with, 10 years ago, was working. We caught up and discussed how things have changed, when out of the corner of my eye I spy a couple of pistol lights. Come to find out it was three Streamlights. 2 TLR-1's and a TLR-2G. $80 later I walk out with the TLR-2G, with all the inserts and mounting hardware. Got it stuck on a Glock 19; now I need to get to the range and "sight in" the laser. It's my 1st gun mounted light. Anybody have any thoughts or opinions to share about weapon lights?

Obligatory picture with JK content.

I've never used one, the last gun I had with a rail was a Springfield XD Tactical, but I got rid of it. Seems like a great idea for a house gun.

Wow YC ! Nice score.

Im looking at mounting a light on my Rem. 870 20g.
I also have a Beretta M9-A1 that has a rail.

The thing ive read about mounted lights is that when something goes "bump" in the night and your checking it out, the business end of your weapon is always pointed at what the light is shining on.
So, if you have teenage kids or an unruly dog, your essentialy aiming at your loved ones.

Where as if you have a light separate from your gun, your not walking around aiming at everything.

I want a mounted light just to see how I like it.

Just got back from a bowling pin shoot - great fun.

Met a good friend for breakfast - had some great biscuits and gravy - a good day so far!

I have not done a bowling pin shoot in years! Used to use a Model 25 S&W .45ACP revolver with a 6.5" barrel. I love biscuits and gravy, being married to a country girl has it's benefits!

Fine looking knife along with that one :)
It really is, isn't it? Thank you (and Mr. K) again for the work you did to make it a reality.

This is the 1st/only gun I have with a rail. My house gun is still a Betetta 92FS with a handheld light. On paper I really like this Glock, but real world the ergonomics just aren't there for me. I'll see how it goes with the light/laser combo. The G19 will either grow on me or it will head on down the road.

That DOES sound like a great day!

Please don't mention shooting. I just finished a two week fire arms instructor course in which I shot hundreds of 9mm, 00 buck, deer slugs and. 223. Sounds fun but all day in the hot sun and /or rain for two weeks. I can use a few non shooting days

I once watched a poor whipped husband spend an afternoon walking around the yard with a shovel and a 16' tall pole - with attached multi-story birdhouse being directed by his wife where to dig and set the pole. Had to be a decent hole to hold such a structure . This went on for at least 8 holes if not a dozen before she was satisfied.

Me? I was sitting on my porch reading and drinking a few beers and enjoying the show while having only loving thoughts of my wife.

Sadly - the man in question is/was in our opinions one of the nicest, friendliest and gracious men we have ever met. Maybe he is a saint and his wife was sent to try the extent of his holiness. :D

I had the range to myself today - Maggie worked early so I made her breakfast, then headed for the range.

It was pouring down rain and 70 degrees - the rain kept people away, even though we have nice covered shooting positions.

After about 9 zeroing shots and adjustments, I was hitting the center of the target at 100 meters - nice groups too.

I put a few shots out to 300 meters, but I couldn't tell where I was hitting as my spotting scope wasn't much good in all the rain.

I then set to zeroing in the Deltapoint reflex sight on my M&P. It took me a while to get the Deltapoint figured out - but now I am liking it a lot!

I ran some double-tap drills on 6" circular targets set about two feet apart on a target stand - I would fire two at the first target and then switch to the second target for two more, then back to the first.

I did that as quickly as I could to get used to target acquisition with the red-dot. I think this is going to be great for USPSA.

I finished up with some practice with one of my carry pieces - my Colt Mustang XSP - it continues to impress me with the accuracy for a little pocket pistol - and it's trouble-free operation and smooth recoil, even with defensive ammo.

There was a scheduled Cowboy Action shoot - but only about 7 people showed up - and they were on a different range on the other side of the club, so I was really just left to my own devices.

At the end, I ran a magazine out of my AR-15 pistol - that is a hoot to shoot!

Sounds like a great morning! Connie and I are going to the range this coming Friday morning. It was her idea, I'm so happy she enjoys shooting again, she insists we go at least once a month.

Nice setup, 'mudge!

I have a TLR-1 that I sometimes put on my XD/m 5.25 - it feels right on that piece -

I don't like the light on the gun for home defense, since you are pointing a loaded gun at whatever you are illuminating.

I don't have any laser pointers, just holographic red-dot sights, but I can tell you if you have it sighted in well it is a great shooting aid, I have seen it with students.

The laser will also help in training, it will show you your hold control, and for dry firing it can show you if you are pressing the trigger or pulling it.
