The "Whatever" Thread

Me and the middle boy have been sick all weekend.
He started with a fever yesterday morning. If it keeps up through the day, we'll be going to the doc tom.
Im not too worried about myself as long as the fever doesnt set in.
It just sucks because sickness is a chain reaction around here. With three boys always in eachothers faces, its hard not to pass it around.

Its just that time of year I guess.

Best wishes to all of you! Hope your both back on your feet soon.

Saturday night my 14 month old daughter woke up at 3 a.m. screaming with a fever, after some motrin and being held for an hour and a half, she passed back out between the misses and I. Sunday we went to the doc and she was near certain it was caused by her teething... She already has 4 in and another 4 are coming in at the same time now, including one eye tooth and a molar...

She was back to her normal self by last night, laughing, running around and for some reason, pointing at the pumpkin and saying "dada" and "daddy".
Even though I am not that big, (5'8" 210lbs 36" pants) I think it is a sign. Starting to watch what I eat and getting back to using my weights.

The doctor will probably say it`s a virus, and won`t give you anything for it, it just needs to "run it`s course." Ours started with Hanna, and hers has lasted two weeks so far.

Feeling a bit better, so getting some work done today, and went to the post office. First time I've left my property in over a week.

It seems there are two variations of something going round here. One is intestinal and the other respiratory. I guess our household is lucky in that we've had only sinus congestion and coughing. It's not good but the lesser of two evils in my opinion. Hope everyone recovers quickly and that this isn't an indication of what this winter will be like.

As part of our "reduce bills plan", about three months ago we got rid of cable tv. We bought an antenna, and a Roku from Target for a total of $97. We now get most of the basic cable channels we had before for free and pay $8 a month for Netflix. I've started watching the show Longmire and am totally hooked on it. Anybody else watch this? How can you not like a guy who carries a 1911 and Buck 110!

Havent seen that yet.
I did catch a pretty awesome documentary that was mentioned over in the Wilderness Survival forum.
Its called: Happy People: A Year in the Taiga.
Its on Netflix also.

Its about Russian Trappers who basically live off the land in the wilds of Russia.
Its a really great documentary and its all spoken in English so you don't have to read captions through the whole movie.

I've seen a couple episodes of Longmire. It's good but I recently got hooked on Narcos and binge watched all the episodes.

The "Happy People" documentary was awesome (saw it a long time ago on Netflix). I second your recommendation and would guess pretty much everyone here would enjoy that one.

I went for three years without pay TV. We ended up re-upping the cable for the Olympics a few years back. With the kids both in college now it may make sense to "cut the cord" again.

We watched "Breaking Bad" on Netflix. It is worth watching, basically an average guy gets cancer and is desperate for money gets into the illegal drug business and through out the series he just gets in deeper and deeper. Not many shows both the wife and I enjoy watching together.

We're kinda lucky in the TV department. My wife's mother's boyfriend, Yes I said that right, installs Direct TV. We worked out a deal several years ago that if my wife paid her moms car insurance, $60 a month, that he would install the satellite tv throughout our house.
We weren't too keen on the idea until we priced the satellite instillation and monthly fees for ourselves. It was way cheaper to go the 'illegal' route.

So, now in exchange for a car insurance note, we have every movie channel, every basic channel and everything in between, even get the HD channels.
The only problem is that its an 'under the table' kind of deal. IF we ever have a problem with it, we have to call him. He made it perfectly clear to NEVER call Direct TV.

After I typed all this im contemplating just backspacing the whole thing!

Spent 6 hours in the car dealership service department waiting room today. 3 weeks ago the "Low Coolant" warning light came on. I added anti-freeze and continued my day. The car never got hot, but I did because I've already replaced the water pump twice in this car. I put alot of miles on my vehicles for work, but 3 failed water pumps in 170k is ridicules. This was 2 days before we were leaving for vacation so I didn't say anything to my wife (no reason to add that stress before/during the trip). Got back to a small puddle under the car and the light on again, so I had to tell her. Her reaction was what I expected when hearing about an additional $700 expense following our vacation. This was Labor Day. The next day I get a letter stating a recall has been issued due to leaking coolant pumps and that I should schedule the replacement service at my earliest convienence. The 3 hour service took 6, but if they are paying for the repairs I can't complain. And they assured me pump had been updated with a different part number than the last ones.

Sorry to change the subject there. We have Direct TV, also. We spent the first 8 years of our marriage without cable/dish. But that was pre-kids, when it wasn't a big deal to stay out somewhere watching a ballgame. If it weren't for college basketball we wouldn't have it now.

Wow. Don't you just love how car companies wait until they absolutely HAVE to do a recall on something.

Now, here you are, $100s of dollars on repairs that could have been spent on JK's, down the drain!

Love Longmire. Great show. I was happy to see Netflix pick it up after it was cancelled. Can't wait to watch the new season when I get some time. Netflix is turning out some great original programming.
Haven't seen Narcos yet, but I believe it's about Pablo Escobar and the Colombian drug trade.

Just got a roku today and we are cutting the cable this week. I barely watch it so my wife is understandably a little upset but after she learns how to use it I think she will calm down.

Headed to work. 5am shift start at the facility I'm performing exposure monitoring at + 2.5 hour drive = early start. I could have driven last evening and stayed in a local hotel, but I would have missed my son's 1st T-ball game. No decision to make there.
