The "Whatever" Thread

Surprisingly, for being in the middle of nowhere in Illinois , I have to drive 42 miles to get to either of the "local" ranges, and 27 miles to get to the range where I qualify students (it's a gravel pit near the classroom building).

I do have permission to shoot behind a local church where I taught a class a couple years ago, and the pastor there shoots, but I rarely take them up on the offer - one time I went down there with all my gear and there was a wedding going on.....

I have not completely given up on buying some land to set up my own range and/or house, but with Caterpillar getting wonky on cutting people I am holding up a bit on that idea.

The one I joined is about 35 miles away, but if I take I 57 it only takes about a half hour to get there, about the same as driving the 18 miles to Lockport where I used to go. I'm pretty excited about it! It used to be we had to wait until Connie had a day off, then hope they were open. Now we can go after she gets off work, which is usually 12:30, and go without worrying we might not get in for hours.

So you used to go to Rinks John?

There's another membership range up north called Alpha Range. It's pricey but you get the range to yourself and can practice drawing and other "tactical" stuff that you can't do at most places.

Just got back from taking Connie to Angie's new house to help Angie unpack everything. Angie will bring her home tomorrow, I'm a bachelor for the night!

The one thing I like about Rinks is the sign on the door about speaking foreign languages.

I think they are redoing some stuff on their range. My buddy is doing the electrical work for a new ventilation system.

Wooohoo watching discovery channel on the couch amd passing out before 9:00 PM! Wait... that's what you guys do when the wife is gone right?

9:00? You crazy, I get up at 2:30, I'll be in bed by 8:00! No Discovery channel for me, I've been watching NCIS reruns on Netflix.

Shoot, when I have the house to myself I have about a dozen different things run through my head.
With these three kids of mine, anytime you get time to yourself you better make the most of it!

"I could sharpen knives, clean guns, work on my jeep, shoot guns, play xbox, play banjo, or drink whiskey!"

I don't think I've actually been in bed before 11 PM in probably 5 years. Me and the wife have only spent four nights apart in the past four years if you don't count when I worked graveyard shift.

I say do it all! It sounds just like the days before kids, except replace Jeep with Bronco, and banjo with harmonica...I never knew how much time I actually had, ha ha.

Rebecca has taken sam on aeasearch trip, iris is staying with nanny tonight, I always have the same problem, i can think of 10 diffierent thigns to do and always end up spending all th time on cleaning, fixing or moving somethign or other, ha!

Pretty decent day around here. Completed another step in going back to college this fall (don't tell my workplace :D), and went for a nice motorcycle ride. In January. In Illinois.

Hoping to get another in tomorrow.

I hope you part-time bachelors find a way to make the most of it!

Something in the forestry/ecology field. Not exactly sure yet, but I'm going to finish what I started a few years ago. I'm tired of huffing weld smoke everyday.

Good deal. A degree will get your foot in a lot of doors....

Ride your bike up my way someday - I'll go for a putt with you -
