The "Whatever" Thread

Went out today and did some semi long range shooting. due to the fields being wet we could only get out to 700 yards but that was still plenty of fun for me. Didn't really get to stretch the 338's legs but it was some much needed relaxation of boom....... ping..... boom.....ping. did some defensive handgun drills also and just all around had a good time with some friends.

On of my buddies from work and I have almost 1300 rounds worth of ammo waiting to be shot but the problem is we're both supervisors we work different shifts and we have different days off. Its really hard for both of us to get the same days off.

Spent the last three days with my family in Snowshoe, WV skiing. Weather was good and my son was old enough (4) for Ski School. He and his cousin had a great time and gave the instructor, a lovely young women from Chile, all she could handle.

Meanness Squared. My boy is the one in blue.

Congrats to the Super Bowl Champs and their fans

Sherriff's last rodeo turned out well :)

YC, those two boys look like hell on wheels! (Or skies for that matter)

That vacation sounds like a wonderful time.

Did everyone make it to work this morning or call in with super bowl flu? We stayed home and watched the game. It was nice being just us and we had plenty of food and drinks. My wife waited till late in the game to make a spicy chicken dip. It was delicious but she paid for it suffering through heat burn most of the night. Congratulations to the Broncos and all their fans.

The only time I have ever watched sports of any kind is when my daughters or grandchildren played them. I`ve never watched any on TV.

i prefer to just watch at home. but, i typically have to go out to a party. i compromise and come home at half time.

i have been taking superbowl monday off for about 10 years. i contended at the time that superbowl monday should be an american holiday. my boss just kind of shrugged and said, "i can't really argue with that." :)

this is shocking to me. no judgment here. it's just that watching sports have been such a large part in my life. to me, they are more than just TV. they are mental escape. heck, the patriots and red sox helped me through a divorce. to me, when i hear joe castiglione on the radio (red sox announcer) for the first time in the spring, i smile. it really is like meeting an old friend. perhaps this is unusual. i dunno. the psychology of sport is a pretty interesting subject....

Are any of you "Romeos" planning anything special for Valentine's? Our babysitter is ill so we'll not go out for a romantic dinner but I did get her a new
St Croix spinning rod............................... and diamond earrings.

"Romeos"...funny. we were planning to go out for dinner. but, i think she is deciding she'd rather just go over to neighbors, and eat and drink and maybe play some cards. sounds good to me!

Sports is pretty much all I watch on tv. I don't watch much and haven't since I was around 12. I don't even own one.

I have given my wife a monthly gift each month for almost 25 years.

On valentines day, I buy handmade chocolate heart-shaped boxes filled with either fresh roasted macadamias, cashews or a mix of jelly bellies , depending on the age of the recipient.

My girls have been getting these boxes for 20 years, it's a tradition.

I am lucky to have the girls, and also lucky to have the owner of the Nut House in Peoria as a friend all these years.

Give your girls a hug!

Maggie and I will distribute out the valentine boxes tomorrow and then go to our nieces' birthday party in the afternoon.

Today we drove up to Rockford Illinois to visit Maggies last living matriarch, her mother's sister. We took her out to lunch and had a nice several-hour visit with her.

I stopped in LaSalle Illinois at Rudy's Liquor where I found Jack Daniels 2012 Holiday Select in stock, which I am enjoying at the moment, and a bottle of Michters Toasted Oak for my friend Kirill who commissioned me to purchase if I found this rare spirit in stock. Rudy's Rocks!

Hayley has her 13th birthday coming up, so yesterday we went to a small gift shop south of Wilmington. She loves little "trinket" boxes, so we got her a heart shaped one that said Granddaughter on it and is also a music box. While we were there Connie saw a purse she really liked, she kept going back to it and looking. I asked her if she wanted it, she said no, she did not need it (all the while giving me puppy dog eyes). After I paid for the music box we went to the car to leave, I said I better go back in to buy some of their homemade fudge, she could wait in the car. Of course I bought the purse, I`m not totally slow minded! I surprised her with it this morning.
On the way back into town I stopped at the gun shop to buy a box of .38 ammo, and noticed a sign in the locksmith shop window next store that said Case knives. I went in, saw a few, and was ready to leave when the guy behind the counter said the owner opened a knife shop in Braidwood where most of the knives were. We drove the 4 miles to the shop to check it out. Mostly overpriced, but we got to talking knives, and I mentioned I made them. I directed him to my website, he liked what he saw, and said if I wanted to put some in the shop he would sell them on consignment. Might just do that, it can`t hurt.
