The "Whatever" Thread

Well dang.....

I had to put in my two weeks notice at work the other day......

because I was called back to work by the company that laid me off back in '14.

Way better pay and bennies and three day weekends again!

Congrats! The ice machine place?

It's hard to believe I joined Bladeforums 15 years ago this month.

I've got everything I need, anvil, stump, tongs, just need to do more research. I believe in learning as much as I can before starting. After that, all I need to worry about is someone complaining about the noise. As a side note, I fired up the forge this morning, I still use it for heat treating hawks.
:thumbup::cool:

It's been confirmed, there will be one of my Kepharts in an article in American Frontiersman magazine, a Kephart in Knife Magazine, and the Kane model will be mentioned in an upcoming action novel.
I've never seen an AF mag. will have to look them up.

Did something to screw up my back, (or it's just old age), can't hardly walk today.
Back aches suck, I get 'em but they usually work them selves out with a bit of excersise/work/time.

there's some more progress!

there's even some pecan wood in there
Nice work Pete.

American Frontiersman only comes out two times a year, the next one should be around June. Wally World carries it.

Fantastic news!!!

Thanks guys, it's going to be tough working 10 hour days again, but I'l have more time off to recuperate.(and camp!)

Andy..I hope your employment situation is stable.
(The rest of you also for that matter)
I remember you saying something about it being iffy a while ago.

And Stainless90... I'll be rejoining the Operating Engineers.(great bennies)
I remember you mentioned taking an entrance exam for them.(hope you aced it)
Funny that I didn't need too.
Different jobs I suppose.

In other news... I just had eBay find in my favor over a pair of pants that were incorrectly described.
The listing was for a pair of M65 Field pants, but I received a pair of plain BDUs, or Utilities as we called them in the MC.
The M65s take a button in liner for cold weather wear and I use them on cold mornings and nights while camping, but outgrew my old ones so went looking for a replacement pair.
(what can I say, I'm a growing boy, just the wrong way now a days.)

Thanks Mykel -

December was a really bad month at big yellow - they let a lot of people go, and offered voluntary separation packages to people that were x years old or older, and I was .5 years too young for the package.

Luckily, I was one of the lucky people that stayed on, and I have a new position in the new organization that will allow me to still lead a team but without all of the on call support hassles and the work direction etc etc.

All in all it came out very well for me, but the company is still seeing reduced sales and thus the executive office is always looking for new ways to reduce expenses.

I am lucky, very lucky.

best

Congrats Mykel and Andy!

I was affected by restructuring in December. I was also one of the lucky ones where I was given a new position as opposed to being let go. The new position isn't my favorite by a long shot but I've grown accustom to living indoors and eating on a regular basis so I'm keeping it.

All the best to both of you in your new old gigs.
