Had a pretty big storm blow through here yesterday. It knocked a slab of Soapstone over.
That's several thousand dollars laying on the ground.

Anyone need any Soapstone ?

Yeah, two tornadoes touched down. They were both in fields though, so no damage to any property.

Soapstone is great stuff. What would a roughly 1 foot square piece cost?

A rough cut piece with no edge profiling I could ship for $20 sq.ft. + shipping.
A piece that big would fit in a flat rate box and ship for about $10.

I can cut it to any size you may need. Once you get beyond board game sizes though the shipping costs start to get real high.

Normally, say installed in your kitchen as counter tops, this stone would costs $60+ sq.ft.

1066vik informed me that way back in the day people used soapstone to make bullet molds for their old muskets.

It can withstand extreme amounts of heat and wont crack or bust like other rocks would.

Because of that, and it being easy to carve, it was also used to make smoking pipes or as the smoking bowl on the Native American pipes (peace pipes). Hobby shops like Hobby Lobby or Michaes arts and crafts sell it for carving.

I've got a scope base and rings ready to install, just need a scope.
Going low power, either a fixed 2x or a 1.5 x 4 or5.
Maybe a 2x7.
I need glass so no iron peeps for my old eyes.

The saddle ring pivots stiffly and doesn't rattle so it is staying.
