The "Whatever" Thread

I've been shooting 10 out of the last 14 days. I never thought I would ever say this but I am sick of shooting!

I can believe that. I like going once a month and taking only two guns each time I go. One will be one of my smaller carry guns, and the other will be a full size gun. I usually only shoot 200 - 300 rounds each time.

Not too windy here today. Yesterday it was snowing and 50 mph winds, could hardly see anything. No snow stuck, melted right away.

Mowed the lawn yesterday because it desperately needed it. Drove to work this morning in snow flurries. Gotta love April.

Was going to mow mine today if we weren't having tornadic winds and woke up this morning to everything frozen lol. Hoping my peas didn't all die off but I can always plant more I suppose.

Im ready for the mowing season! I picked up a new mower awhile back and have been itching to put it to work. Here lately its been raining every dang weekend so I have only used it once for 2 hours.
I have an 8 acre yard so the giant mower is justified. I had a 23hp diesel Kubota before this and it treated me well, but with over 500 hours on the meter its was time for trade in. I opted for the flashy Bad Boy Outlaw with the biggest baddest motor Briggs & Strat. offered. I now have 36hp at my disposal and feel a little bit like Tim Allen from Home Improvement when I crank 'er up! :p

Check out that captains chair! :D

Wow, you need to bring that up to the Lewistown, IL lawnmower poker run

Wife and daughter were out of town this afternoon, so me and the boy spent the whole evening outside. We roasted hotdogs over a fire, took a walk on the farm, and just enjoyed being together. I used the Riverwoods Companion to cut the hotdog sticks, though no pictures were taken.

I find myself dropping this knife in my right front pocket when I'm out around the house. The kydex pocket sheath holds it upright and is very comfortable. The more I carry it and use it, the more I'm impressed with this knife. It's my favorite fixed blade!

I gave my RWC to Kirill, one of my local friends. He keeps it on the counter of his kitchen and uses it often.

Another great JDS1 design...

Nice mower, Heef!! I have been running a JD with a Vanguard for 7 years or so, it has been really good. Mine is only 21hp, but it has done well on my fairly small yard.

best

Crazy that its been going for almost 20 years now!

So, we had a little wake up call at our home yesterday evening. My 3 year old stabbed himself in the butt with a very sharp and very rusty Schrade Old Timer that belonged to grandpa.
My wife keeps the knife in her car to use when necessary.

I was outside with Jasper working on my jeep and I noticed him climbing into my wifes car. I didn't think too much of it, he does it all the time.
Then, the next thing I see is him crying and running toward me with blood streaming down his leg and his whole foot is bloody. Me and my wife were both freaking out trying to figure out what happened.
I go to her car and see the open knife in the front seat of her car. I asked him if he was playing with the knife and he says, 'no', because he knows he isn't supposed to handle knives.
He was more scared of getting in trouble than of the gaping wound on his butt check. I could easily stick my finger inside the hole that the knife made.

We spent about 2 hours at the emergency room just for the nurse to put anit-bacterial cream on the wound and place a Band-Aid on his butt. They said they couldn't sew up a puncture wound. It has to be a 'clean cut' with obvious edges to be sewn together.

Below is a pic of how far the knife went into his butt. That's a solid 1 1/2'' puncture wound there.

I feel horrible. Lessons were learned by everyone yesterday.
