The "Whatever" Thread

My Papaw told me when I was young that you should never pick a fight with an old man. If he's to old to fight you, he'll just kill you.

started my new gig last monday. been stupid busy signing stuff and getting sworn in. all kinds of information being thrown my way lol. not a lot of time for much else right now but I'm super stoked. living the dream and what not :)

Connie is spending the day applying for jobs, Target seems bound and determined to make her quit, her boss is treating her like crap. They tend to do that with older employees, it`s cheaper to hire new employees.

Dang. Sorry to hear that. Hope she finds something.

When I quit my previous job, oilfield electrician, I had no idea what I would do next. I went to every business in town asking if they needed help. I even went to a pet shop and told them I would clean cages and sweep the floor.
I walked in to this granite shop and told the owner, "I don't know $h#* about granite, but im willing to work and learn." And he hired me on the spot. I never even filled out an application. Now ive been here three years, and its best job ive ever had.

It's kind of strange, she got her review two weeks ago, exceeded on over half the requirements and met on the rest, but all of a sudden she's too slow. They give here twice as much aisles to do as the other girls, if she does not get done when they do, it's a "problem." Fuck em, she had a hell of a time keeping me at home yesterday when she came home in tears and told me what her boss said.

Sorry to hear the John. I hope the Boss finds some greener pastures!

I have a friend who was just let go after 30 years as a salesperson for the same company. She was a top performer every year and literally made the company millions and millions of dollars. They started pushing her out about a year back, taking away her best accounts and handing them to newer people. It didn't even matter when her clients wrote letters to her boss asking that she remain as their rep. Always remember...some people are just a-holes !!!!

That's a problem with a lot of corporations out there, they want to push out the veterans for people making minimum wage and get rid of full time workers for part time workers. For them people are a number and it's all about their bottom line.

I think you are absolutely correct.

Just realized I have not had any alcohol since last November in Michigan. I think it's time to fix that!

A door to door sales company did something similar with me a few years ago. They sold and installed home improvement and repair products (windows, doors, siding, you get the point). Me working smart and not hard only pushed for the big jobs like a new roof or a house worth of windows. Sold jobs regularly and kept the roofing and window installation guys busy regularly. My manager who I've known from before the job came to me and let me know they were going to let me go. I asked him why and he said they claimed my overall sales numbers weren't very high. I argued that from a straight revene standpoint I made more money for the company then 90% of the salesman. He agreed and told me it was out of his hands and that the office manager was going to call me into his office on Friday. I had one other full time job and a part time job landscaping at the time so I went into his office the next day and thanked him for the opportunity at the company but I didn't feel it was a good fit for me.

Best of luck to her to find a new job, it is a shame they treat a valuable asset like that.
