On Sunday it is projected thatthe coldest Chicago Bears game of all time will be played! Estimated to be 1 degree above zero at noon kick off! And the Chicago Hawk (wind)will be present also at 15-20 mph. Lets get ready to FUMBLE!

Yea - I love those cold as heck games, and I normally would be going to the game just before Christmas, but this year I gave the tickets to my cheese-head son-in-law to take my daughter and granddaughters to the game.

I almost wish I had not done that to them since it is going to be, as luck would have it, the coldest recorded game-time temp if the weather predictors are correct.

It just figures -

I've really been enjoying my "vacation", been reading, watching Christmas movies, and just kicking back. I go to the shop and enjoy smoking my pipe that jds1 sent me a while back, and look around at how clean the shop is. I'll start getting it dirty again after Christmas.

I've never given pipe smoking a try but if you add a good cup of coffee or sip of a Kentucky bourbon to the mix and it could be the perfect afternoon.

On Wednesday I had a few minutes between work appointments so I stopped by a gun shop I don't get to very often (they cater to the "high speed, low drag" crowd, while I prefer racks of used blue steel & walnut).
As I was leaving I was asked if I was interested in signing up for their raffle (giving away a gun a day until Christmas). I was curious what the catch was, but the sales guy assured me I only needed to put my name and phone number on the ticket and that they weren't interested in stealing my identity or spamming my email, so I dropped my ticket in the bucket and went on my way.
Yesterday, much to my suprise, I get a call saying my name was drawn and all I needed was a valid driver's license to pick up my prize: a S&W SD9VE.
Not a handgun I would have ever bought myself, but if they are giving me a free gun I'll drive across town anytime they call.

I think you and I could get along just fine!!

My ex bro in law phoned me from his car the other morning, he told me he had just left a gun shop in Southern IL, that I just had to visit. I asked " is it full of old guns with wood stocks and 6 shooters?" He said yes, yes, yes, he was as excited as could be and knew I would be also! Can't remember what town but he said the name of the shop was Hicks. Anyone know it?

That was the closest gun shop to Connie's family farm in DuBois. I remember buying all the remaining Buck fixed blades from their display. They were dated from 1986, and had the original prices!
