The "Whatever" Thread

Thanks. The kids get along great. They pick at each other, but that's normal. And yes, he is in "big-brother-protection mode".

At her 3rd B-day party in November there were 20+ kids playing, running, acting like "kids". A classmate of my daughter knocked her down being little over aggressive, causing her to cry. Before I could act I see my son's head snap to attention, survey the scene and make a b-line for the culprit. After leveling the boy, he looked around to see if he had been seen and, nonchalant as a guilty 5yr old can be, made his way back to the other side of the party. I was the only person to see this scene and didn't say a word. I mentally tipped my cap to him and patted myself on the back for doing something right.

Great story, good for him!

Got a speeding ticket yesterday. 68 in a 55.

Take a guess how much a '68 in a 55' ticket costs ?.... $263 Damn Dollars !

I also had a pretty cool knife order coming up, but thanks to my heavy foot that is getting pushed back down the line. :barf: Makes me sick !

I learned my lesson and have been setting my cruise on the highway now. 60 mph from here on out.

Mine was 65 in a 55 at least that's what the cop said. I was in a truck governed at 62 and wasn't hitting the governor. That cost me $469.00
Paying tickets sucks.

I got a 90 in a 60 on I5 back in 2015 and got a deferral.
No tickets for 7 years and it'll supposedly go away.
Only 5 to go.

Man I hate the police. Always messing with people :) but on a serious note your guys tickets are stupid high lol. Our tickets are 160 bucks. I usually write warning tickets for the speed and issue seat belt tickets. Its 25 bucks and no points on their license vs the 160 dollars and 4 points on the license. I tend to be a bit more laid back about it than some as I can't afford 160 dollars on a ticket myself lol

I've only had 1 ticket for going 40 in a 25. I got court supervision so my car insurance didn't get more expensive. Cost me nearly $400.

Funny story about that one. I had shut my car off when he pulled me over, but forgot to turn off my headlights. After getting my ticket, I tried to start my car and the battery had died while I was waiting. The officer was kind enough to give me a jump start and send me on my way.:D

I think the only speeding ticket I ever got was years ago in Pennsylvania. I was down there for some training, and decided to go to amish country one day to get some beef jerky at one of the markets. There's a place where the highway ends right into a smaller road system, and it was clear that the police like to hang out right there to bag people who don't slow down soon enough. I think I could have fought it, but since I was not in the area for long, I just ate the ticket and went on with my life.

One other time, when I was in the USAF and stationed at Griffiss, I used to go home to NH on weekends. It was a Sunday night, and I was heading back on the Thru-way, and my radar det. kept blipping, then it would stop. Then in a little bit, it would start again and then stop. I guess the Statie behind me got tired of doing that and lit me up. He was cool about it, he just said why don't you shut that thing off and just watch your speed. Let me go with a warning, LOL.

Funny seeing everyone discussing auto tickets. I work for a StateFarm insurance agent, when I started over 3.5 years ago I learned pretty quickly how much getting a ticket can suck so my driving has definitely slowed down. To any who care I am almost done with my first week with a new insurance agent in the town I moved to. It's been crazy but I'm finally getting settled in and used to the new digs. I hope everyones new year is going good and watch your speed out there because cops are jerks and tickets cost more than just what the gov gets from you. They can increase your insurance premiums, though if you don't tell the company and don't make any changes then often times they won't ever find out about the ticket.

Cops are only jerks if they give you (or me) a ticket.;)(See grunt soldier's post above)

Congrats on the new job and successful move!

yay!

gratuitous jk knife related picture to celebrate!

Went to breakfast at IHOP in New Lenox early this morning. 7 Will County police cars parked in the lot, all with their motors running while the sheriffs were inside having breakfast. Seems like a waste of gas to me.

It's nothing a little tax increase can't pay for  I could go on for hours about the complete lack of common sense used by the local governments here.
