The "Whatever" Thread

This is an awesome guide for learning about the night sky. Each month starts with an overview of prominent sky features and each day adds a small amount of detail and history. It's fun to follow along with the guide and learn a little more each day. A new edition is currently available on A-zon for $12.

Thanks for the book recommendation. I added it to my A'zon list. I think my son would like it. He loves playing with star maps on our phones.

Jeff,
That is very cool. I will have to pick that one up too. I have a friend who is an avid astronomer and he amazes me with his knowledge every time we get together.

The author's style really makes it easy to absorb and retain details. It's a great bedside book.

Got a speeding ticket yesterday. 68 in a 55.

Take a guess how much a '68 in a 55' ticket costs ?.... $263 Damn Dollars !

I also had a pretty cool knife order coming up, but thanks to my heavy foot that is getting pushed back down the line. :barf: Makes me sick !

I learned my lesson and have been setting my cruise on the highway now. 60 mph from here on out.

$198-Twig Mangler w/ shipping
$30 - 2 piece handle
$15 - Steel end cap
$20 - Leather sheath

What a coincidence!

Last ticket I got was for an expired inspection. The trooper told me to get my Jeep inspected then take the receipt and ticket to the court house where they would drop the charges. They did but it still cost $89 for court cost.

I have finally seen it all! About six months ago the house across the street sold. An older couple bought it, and then had it completely renovated. When it was done I noticed a young couple were living there, turned out the older couple bought it for their granddaughter and her boyfriend, neither of them seem to have jobs.
Once a week grandma has a cleaning service come in to clean, and someone mows their grass and shovels snow.
Now the good part. It's very windy here today, and it's garbage day, so we all have our bins out front. Their bin blew over, paper and garbage blowing all over the neighborhood. I watched them come out of the house and start texting on the phone. Next thing I see is the guy who does their lawn pull up, and start picking up garbage while they watch him. Rich spoiled brats. The only redeeming factor in them moving here is she does know how to wear a pair of yoga pants!

Well - you have that going for you!

I had neighbors whose grandmother bought the house for them free and clear. They lived there without any mortgage payment, however, being financial geniuses, they remodeled a brand new house with different cabinets and carpets etc, all on a home equity line. Then came the teenager's car(s), and after a few years, they owed more on home equity than they had in equity.

Mortgage foreclosure followed about a year afterward.

I think it is true, if you don't work for it, you don't appreciate it.

Sweet! Hi-vis clothes and a guardian that won't quit.

Cute kids. Glad they like each other and it looks like he's already in big-brother-protector mode.

Cool.
Thanks. The kids get along great. They pick at each other, but that's normal. And yes, he is in "big-brother-protection mode".

At her 3rd B-day party in November there were 20+ kids playing, running, acting like "kids". A classmate of my daughter knocked her down being little over aggressive, causing her to cry. Before I could act I see my son's head snap to attention, survey the scene and make a b-line for the culprit. After leveling the boy, he looked around to see if he had been seen and, nonchalant as a guilty 5yr old can be, made his way back to the other side of the party. I was the only person to see this scene and didn't say a word. I mentally tipped my cap to him and patted myself on the back for doing something right.
